Help please... Yes im a newb
ok so heres what i plan to be my setup... H23 block stock but bored to OEM oversize specs... H22 head with crower springs/retainers/ and crower stg 2 cams. Head has been milled 10 thousandths...
Anything wrong with this setup? Im leaving the block as is cause its getting built for turbo a while from now.
My big question is... Do i have to tap into an oil line for VTEC or is the orifice plug in the block the only thing I have to remove? Im not using oil squirters because Im not planning on revving over 7200 and my motor atm handles that fine.
Also can someone who has done this swap before messege me and help me out with a walkthrough type thing... Ive read every post in this thread and all I can get is a list of parts I need for the swap. theres not really a "how to" type thing. Or is it basically just swap all the parts and it bolts right up? ill be running a p28 with chrome tuning till i can afford hondata

Re: Help please... Yes im a newb (Vcastro)
I completed the h23/h22 head swap a month ago. works AWESOME. and NO, no oil lines need to be tapped for vtec. just remove the oil control orfice and drop the head on.

Re: H23VTEC how to: (crj_lll)
i have an h23 and i got the h23 vtec heads off of the accord sir outta japan. what differences would there be between theh h22 vtec head and the h23 vtec heads. what all parts would i need to make this work or would it be easier to just do the h22 vtec heads?

Re: (alterdcreations)
hey i just got done doing a h23 vtec and i was wonderin i used a type s head and i also have type s cams and i have heard that the type s cams are thicker then stock h22 cams so i was wondering if the valves will clear the pistons once the vtech hits i have been wondering this and thats why i havent pluged in the vtec ecu yet

Re: (trulude)
To use type-s pistons/rods does anything have to be done?
I have read that you have to use the h23 rods and that they have to be modified to accept the floating wrist pins so the type-s pistons can be used? Is this true? Also why can't I just use the type-s rods or h22 rods?
Please help!!!

the h22 rods would be too long for this setup unless you had custom pistons. For the H23 rods you just need to hone them for either a press fit with the pin, or have a bushing installed in them to keep them floating. As is the type-s wrist pin would have too much of a press fit with the small end of the rod. The machine shop should be able to do either.
