H2b ticking/knocking low compression With VIDEO clip
maybe a simple valve adjusment? started ticking after 9 miles. and ive only put 10 miles on
Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-NWFzRl3bc
THESE WERE THE PROBLEMS:
compression was 40 60 80 65 (from cyclinder 1 to 4)
when i start it up its fine until its fully warmed up. when it is fully warmed up my oil light flickers & motor dies if i dont give it gas. i do have some what a leaking head gasket but its not that bad. and good oil level too.
i installed a new oil pump 3months ago, maybe the sending unit making it flicker ?
but why does it only flicker when fully warmed?
i jus finaly finished the swap and this is what its doing
BUT NOW I HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS:
TODAY 9-10-2010
(ive only put 10 miles test driving the car for the past 3 months)
sounds like it knocking/ticking.
why does it sound like this now and it didnt the first 10 miles?
i didnt really floor it to do major damage
if i were to replace the valves, how about the low compression?
i bought this motor from a guy that bought this motor from someone else and he wasent even sure if it ran. but can anyone pass up a h22a4 for 500$?
any ideas>?
thanks in advanced

take the head off and see what you find if you don't see anything take the botton end apart maybe bad bearings could be your oil pump fail if the light comes on and off

Re: H2b problems .....With video
i eventually will, need more advice b4 i rip everything apart
and its a new oil pump
i think its the oil sending unit, it only flickers when its fully warm. . i need more attention on the knocking/ticking and compression
thanks for the advice

sounds like very ****ed motor. get a new one. at the very least take the head off and inspect everything. probably bent valves. if you keep runnin it, you will also need a bottom end.

Re: H2b problems .....With video
ill jus get a oil pressure gauge, but why does it have oil pressure when first started then when it warms im guessing there a little pressure thats why the oil light flickers. and one other thing i found out: i didnt prime my NEW OIL PUMP befor install. maybe the low oil pressure is what made it start ticking??

that oil light could be something stupid. i dont tihnk that would cause your tick/knock.... it probably has bent valves skipped timing or something. get a whole new head

Why didnt anyone mention his compression?
His motor is damn near dead. None of numbers are even close to good. My comp numbers on my prelude are 120 all the way down.
Your motor is trash dude. Im going to bet that you have chipped off some of the oil rings on the pistons and the oil feed pick up line is sucking all that metal up and its not letting correct amount of oil flow through, and that is why you are getting oil issues.

F_ck me running!!!!
im thinking about getting a new/used from the local salvage.
i found a h22a4 for 400$, just motor and head. the guy was saying that i was 3/4 overheating due to an blown gasket. what else should i look for when buying a USED motor?
i bought this motor and didnt know how to inspect it
thanks to all you guys!

well anyways, back to the top.
does this sound like a simple valve adjustment would do the job?
again it never did tick the first 9 miles.

Re: H2b problems .....With video
betting the timing belt tensioner let the belt skip and valves kissed piston.
had to rebuild my head when i bought it, 9 bent valves....
what belt tensioner are you using?
shouldn't compression be like 180psi on a healthy h22??
