h22a timing belt tensioner????
So went to redo my timing in my h22a saw it was off a tooth so noticed the belt was a tad loose walked it off the cam gears got the notch on the flywheel mark aligned started from top dead center re aligned my cams and loosened the tensioner right above the crank pulley went to try and put the belt back on but it didn't loosen so. My question is is there another tensioner on the block to loosen the belt and if anyone has any diagrams please post I've been looking all over the internet and cant find anything so please please help I don't like my car being down (((( thank you all guys

You have to remove the crank pully and the plastic cover to get to it. Get a service manual or simply google how to do it.

Re: h22a timing belt tensioner????
personally i would change it out for the h23 manual tensioner. i've had it on mine for over a year and no problems. Just a small word of advice, do not install the counter balance shaft belt. if one of those shafts seize or something with that belt or its tensioner goes wrong, parts and pieces of said belt can potentially cause the timing belt to walk out or even snap.

^^^ yeah i saw that i just dont really have the money for that one. i mean i could maybe get it but is there anything else id need??? or is it just bolt right up and you manually tension the belt??? cuz i got the auto one off but dont have the tool to get it compressed back to put back on the block.... as welll i was wondering about the h23 one do i just buy the tensioner and it bolts right back on the h22 block??? or if any of you guys know what the said tool looks like or something as a makeshift one tried zip ties but it keeps sliding off when i go to put it back on the block. thank you guys i do appreciate it

For the H23 manual tensioner conversion theres a small list of parts that you would need, the KS piece would be much easier as it uses the pullies and parts you already have.

I see idk what to do kragen sells the auto tensioner with that braket to keep the auto tensioner compressed for 62. Bucks but I'm thinking it would be best to buy the kstuned tensioner but idk I was trying to get it fixed on Saturday :/ idk ugh

Re: h22a timing belt tensioner????
Yeah I did the auto to manual tensioner swap last year and am upset about this cause KS set up is so simple and it's great support for the H. But whats the proper tension is a good question.

Re: h22a timing belt tensioner????
I always go with a comfortable quarter of a twist (90°) on the long part of the belt. any more its too loose. any less its too tight.
i'm sure there are proper ways but this works good for me.

Re: h22a timing belt tensioner????
sorry to thread jack but I am wanting to swap my auto to manual tensioner and was debating on the kstuned or the whole honda parts kit... if I use the manual kstuned setup, will the other parts for the tensioner be okay or will they eventually fail sooner than later? I just don't want to take this all apart and have to do it all over again in a couple months...

Re: h22a timing belt tensioner????
the auto tensioner is really the only part that is known to fail. the KStuned is the way to go. As soonas I get ready for a new belt. I will be swapping my H23 manual conversion to this one .

So installed the kstuned tensioner its one of the easiest things possible bolts up you use the wrench turn it it tightened belt and now that I have that ill never regret it as well as when recieving the package on the inside got a 20 dollar gift card nice little gesture from the people at kstuned I'd recommened everyone with an h22 get this tensuoner

Will post soon hella busy at work. Yet aftwr getting the car running it still bogs. And also now that tje belt is back on it makes a whinning sound sort of like a super charger sound could this be because the belt may be to tight?

And one other thing I cleaned my iacv and then it started yo bog like crazy so could this be a little issue as well adding to the bog while everything gets cleared out? If that makes sense?
