F23a vs H22
So i am wondering if doing an F23A F2B is the right move when you consider that they make nearly the same tq and hp.
Also for the money it seems like a decent bet, over the H22, considering the price and not much more of a gain in hp.

The H22 makes way more HP stock. If you're wanting a stock swap that will be quick without having to build it go with the H22. If you want an underdog project with great potential, go with the F23. Both are great motors. I like the F23 with K20 piston idea.

"Nearly the same" is only a difference of about 50whp.
Isn't it pretty early to be smoking reefer there in Colorado? :D
F2B is not a bad deal. Either a tiny turbo or an H22 head swap with a bump in compression would still be entertaining.

IMO in the world of free information on the internet, riddled with misinformation, the only thing 'definitive' is to get actual parts and some measurement tools (calipers/mics) and find out for yourself exactly what works. Otherwise you can search the net and see if there's enough overlap on data that you've a "good SWAG."

most important is what kind of car, and how much your trying to spend, and what kind of driving you do with it and what you expect out of the motor at different RPMs,

The F2b/H2b adapter is the same cost whether going H or f series.
Unless you are turboing why would anybody buy a F series...??? 50hp less and a bit less torque is a lot... What mod can you do to get 50hp? $1000 dollar set of custom cut cams. Yes the dohc head will help, but unless you have everything laying around I think you could have more HP for cheaper if you went H series.
If you want a fun quick swap out the box get a H23aV bluetop and H2b that. It will stomp any n/a F series with h22 head on it. Also being a factory engine and not a hybrid it will be more reliable as well.
