Default Electrical Problem - tach/speedo, radio, blinkers :(

Hey everyone,

So I've noticed a quirky electrical problem that's come up on my 97 SH. Intermittently, only when i lift off the gas (no brake) my gauges will peg at 0 for a second, then jump back up to where they're supposed to be. Also, if either of my blinkers are on, they will blink 2x as fast and as far as i can tell they are all working (will double check). Lastly, if the radio (stock) is on, it will turn off for a second then come right back on. The car still runs fine and doesn't stutter. Headlights and interior lights still function normally as far as i know.

I want to point out that i recently changed out my springs/struts and the car is riding considerably harsher. I've been reading into electrical problem posts and i've noticed that most seem to be either shorts or loose connections. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

I have encountered one of you problems too. It's the blinkers blinking twice as fast. It only happens to me maybe once a week. I believe it is a short, but I have no idea where to look for the problem to fix it. As long as the turn signal blinks, its ok with me (for now).

As inconsistent as this problem is, it's making me think that it's a loose connection, but i haven't ruled out a short.

Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks.

the gauges dropping to zero sounds like a possible ignition switch problem. with the blinkers acting erratic also, I'd lean towards some short occuring in the steering column itself.
check the wire bundles from the stalk of the blinker lever and the ignition.
are you sure the interior light works when the short occurs? I would assume that your radio is tied to the headlights through an illumination/dimmer wire - and so that's how the radio short could be related
