disaapointed with my prelude...
update dyno sheet added.....
I saw many stock h22 thread which makes around 160-200+ whp and I was impressed.
I have a JDM prelude with h22 but it does not make good power compared with other h22s
I hade rebuild the engine (new rings and bearings),I have ported head with crower titanium springs and retainers also I have a modefied h22 cams to be allmost like the type S cams also a skunk2 cam gears and it tuned by hondata s300, and every thing else stock.
I made 152whp and 132 tq in a dyno dynamics and the header was leaking and I removed the muffler so it was a stock strait pipe, what do you guys thing of my numbers are they good or not.
and this is my dyno sheet ....
if not what are the problems I have. ????
my next step will be:-
header
2.5" Exhaust
64mm tb (do you think I should have bigger)
510cc injectors
3"custom cai
do U think these lil things will make a difference.???
and if you have any suggestions help me PLZZZ
thanx in advance.

Re: disaapointed with my prelude... (h22_bb4)
What the F>>>>>>>......
damm My 100% h22 untuned run just like that.
U got lots of mod to make a good 200whp man. 152 is a waste of money for the power. How is your setup????
by the way, check everything again and have the tunner guy retune. you're wasting your money for that number.
Oh,,,, For your next mod.
Get only header and exhaust, don't want to have stock pipe and muffler.
don't need TB or Injector for the 200whp. stock injector is good enought unless you are planning to get around 250whp or with turbo.

Re: disaapointed with my prelude... (mongtite)
Why do you think you need injectors almost twice the size as OEM?
For one, the dyno numbers are pretty worthless. Most stock H22s on the dynographs will be about the same.
From your list of mods it looks like you could use a new tuner.
Have you tracked the car? That will really tell you if your making progress.
An exhuast will help your car exhale better. Your issue could be if you are till on the stock exhuast is that you are choking out your motor.

Re: disaapointed with my prelude... (Acidcrakker)
i dont know if this will help any , but for my 08 si if you use the hondata reflash without i/h/e you will actually lose power. dont know if that goes for preludes too , but without those things , your hondata is useless. pretty sure if u tried upgrading those parts u will have much better results

Re: disaapointed with my prelude... (Acidcrakker)
fresh bottom end rebuild, and head work and you're only making 152/132......something is wrong with your motor, or ur tuner sucks at his job
I'd do a compression test
Here's my dyno sheet.
jdm h22 w/ OVER 100k miles
intake with dirty dirty K&N filter
ebay header, and STOCK EXHAUST
with a tune from someone ELSE's car
An intake could help a little, but that alone is not killing ur power. An exhaust wouldn't hurt, but again, that's not the cause of ur numbers being so low.
Are ur cams regrings of stock cams, or are they aftermarket cams????

understood sir.....
but for having head work done and fresh rings....i think on ANY dyno 150 is just a tad low.
I'm still gonna stick to a previous statement.....
Do a compression check, *added and a leak down test if you have access to the tester

i had similar results about 155 ish...with just intake, exhaust. pipiing and apex. the problem i had was that when vtec kicked in no matter how much i compensated on the apex, it would stay rich.
about a month ago i went for another tuning this time with header, regulator and 68mm tb with new clutch and fidanza flywheel. and it would just back fire on the top end tuner said i should check my solenoid and troubleshoot a couple things. When i checked with some known tuners they told me check how the setting was on the apex, the guy had it way too rich...leaned it a tad and perfect. That time he had set vtec to 7000 so it wont activate and i got 144whp with no vtec.
now i redid the install of my apex and made it plug and play to eliminate human error and got h22a cams in h22a4 with skunk 2 gears. only this time im gonna tune it myself. thinking of port matching the manifold where it meet the tb before the tune but i dont really think it makes a big difference, maybe like 1hp?

Re: (ShoofIsLudin)
not to mention they are two very different dynos.
DD vs. dynojet

looked at blakes wiki...seems that 144 with no vtec isnt that bad figuring he had 122 with no vtec. than again there is the dyno difference so i might actually have the same.

Maybe they did a crappy job on the portwork, What do you mean by modified cams?

thanx guys for the help
now I have alot of thing in mind to check before I go to the next tune.
when we first run the car with the stock h22 clibration in hondata it only made 140 whp and after tunning I gained only 12 whp.
but about the porting is the turbo porting different from allmotor porting ??? if my head had been ported too much how do I know.???
and the cams yes they are regrings of stock cams. and Im thinking of changing them to skunk stage 2 or pro1.
and I forgot to mention that I have AEM fuel rail and aeromotive fuel regulator and the fuel pressure was 42psi.

All motor porting is not the same as a turbo port. The key to getting hp is air velocity and VE. With turbo, for the most part, wider ports are better because you want the turbo to shove the air in the motor as fast as possible.
With all motor, you don't have a compressor, which means you rely on air velocity for higher VE. A wider port will cause the air velocity to drop, which won't get as much air into the motor; decreasing the VE.
Regarding the adjustable gears, what advance are you running?

Re: (A Blue Lude)
the hump isn't exactly weird, what is weird to me is how fast the torque drops off. I mean thats literally like a cliff.
This head is ported? What all was done to the head? The h22 doesnt really need an enlarged port. It flows enough as it is.
If i could say anything about that graph, i would say the head is not breathing well due to the porting. The engine just stops making power and flat lines in HP with a sharp decrease in torque.
