Default Cheap Strut bars on EBAY...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1866292524

they're cheap and are no-name... but my friend is telling me that if i put them on my car, it could end up snapping or breaking and possibly ******* my car up... is this true? i mean i know its not DC or Matrix, but i mean how bad can the quality be? its just a piece of metal...

FYI, DC sports bars suck because they flex, those bars suck more because they flex a lot. However, they shouldn't ever snap and even if they did I can't see what it would do to your car. My friend got one for the rear of his prelude type sh, and he swears he feels a difference, so maybe they are worth it... I personaly got a pair of spoon bars, which kick a lot of ***, very stiff....

I have ebay cheepies on the front and rear. $35 total for both. They work great. I also have eibach pro springs and tokico blue struts, and 17's w/ 40 series. I rip around the twisties. I need to pick up some energy suspension bushings and sway bars though

The reson why Dc strut bars flex is because people dont get them tight. They just throw them on. I can grab my DC and pull up and down onit and it dont flex.

I can flex a DC bar in my hands, maybe thats just me...My spoon bars are so much stiffer. But as many people are saying, it sounds like the cheapies are working alright, and the DC bar is definetly better than a cheap bar. To answer the where to get the Spoon bars, optionsautosalon.com says that they can still order them...

You gotta take into account, how much force a strut bar is going to encounter while on your car. it just sits there and holds **** together...not like wheels or brakes where **** is spinning, which encounter alot more force. while spoon is prolly the best because of stiffness, I don't think you will feel a difference at all. As far as perf, need a skidpad do determine that..I'm not saying to buy cheap ****, just my .02

allright, just clicked on the link @ the top. ignore my previous post. Those look like ****...I think you could make them w/ $10 and a run to home depot..You can tell good design when you see it, those don't look sturdy to me at all..

Ok i just put one in (Upper Rear) on my 5th gen and that was a HUGE PITA!!! I had to cut the base alot in order to make it fit. but what do you expect for $15.
I would not worry about it "breaking" stuff. If i had to do it again i think that i would spend the $$ for a "real" rear strut bar. Like my NEUSPEED up front.

OK, Back from the DEAD.

5 years later has anyone had anymore experience with eBay Strut Bars? I know on most stuff that you get what you pay for...But after some research on this issue, I was thinking about trying these out since 5/10 people are saying that you wont tell much difference between name brand and no name brands. Most people say that you will notice a difference in the handling though. So I thought someone might have had some more experience with them.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Wow I have seen some ancient threads on here brought back from the dead lately.....anyway if your going to cheap out on the strut bars.....go with Megan,u can get all 3 on ebay for like120 shipped and they are pretty thick and stout for the price,I have one on the front and it does a very descent job of reducing body roll.

Belive it or not it makes a good bit of difference in feel.I dont know exactly how well the rears work, but for 120 u cant really go wrong.Match that with a descent set of springs and struts and have fun.

i got mine off ebay a while ago. i personally dont think theyre that useful as far as handling.

deflective versus compressive strength is different by the way. if you had a 3' bar that was an 1" thick made of CONCRETE thered be no way in hell you could push the ends together and even crack it however itd be pretty easy to just snap it in half...
