Default CEL light

My car ran perfect all day today and I have never had any problems with the swapped stock H22A in my 92' bb4 before. And while waiting at a friends house in the driveway the CEL came on. From then on my car feels like it has lost lots of power between 1 and 5k rpms and VTEC doesnt engage. I know im going to need to check for codes on the ecu to determine the problem, but is there anything I should be expecting. I just thought this was all to sudden and random, expecially for a well maintained, stock motor.

Lots of things can cause your car to run in limp mode, best get the code(s) and post them back here if you're not sure.
