Car shut down. Fly wheel shifted out of site!
I don't know if my 5th Gen is cursed or something. I recently had a new head installed, after my timing belt snapped. A few months before that my throw out bearing when out, and I had to have a new clutch kit installed. Now after on about 100 miles since the head was replaced the car broke down again. Timing belt good, all things good except for my flywheel. If you look threw the hole that allows you to check timing marks. The Flywheel is completely out of site.
Thinking about burning this car to ashes.

i suspect the same thing, probably flywheel bolts came loose from improper torque.
also make sure they are the actual flywheel bolts from honda, NOTHING else should be used.
bring that back to whomever did the clutch, they are liable for the mistake.

Honda did the clutch. It was a duralast clutch kit, but honda did the install. $543.00. It looks like the flywheel came off!

Manual tranny flywheel wheel bolts are longer than auto flex plate bolts. be sure to use manual tranny bolts.

I never said I used an auto flex plate. I said I had Honda install a duraflex clutch kit.

I don't believe they resurfaced the flywheel. I am going to check the bill to see if they included it. The new clutch was installed back in september but I haven't driven the car more that 300 miles since it was installed.

I think they will try to weasel their way out of it. It's been almost 6 months, and they already told me they would prefer if I didn't bring it back to them.

If the flywheel did in fact fall off from being improperly torqued, which it sounds like it did, then they should be held accountable. If they torqued the bolts down properly there's no reason that should've happened.
They must have screwed up, because years ago when I did an auto to manual swap I followed some directions I got online and torqued the bolts to only 24 ft/lbs instead of 76!
It lasted a year till it finally fell off. Just be persistent and don't take no for an answer.

Man, you have the worst luck with this car. Frankly Im surprised that if your flywheel did just happen to fall off, it didnt go flying through your engine.

You paid them, they're liable. Don't be a puss about it, go **** all over them until they fix it. End of story.

I was going 20 MPH when it happened. I called Honda this morning and they said to bring it in. No fuss or anything. They told me that I would only have to pay for the diagnostics. I am thinking that they will try to say it is something other than the flywheel and clutch so that I have to pay to repair it.

well in their defence it's hard to see what's wrong with the car. So the best thing to do is let the dealer wants to see if they did anything wrong and if it is their fault. They should not charge you

i would not pay a cent. Its not your fault so dont let them make it out to be like it is. Tell it like it is and dont be a ***** but at the same time remain calm and content. It will let them know that your not just some kid (dont know how old you are) and that you mean business.

I had to pay a tow truck to tow it to the dealer. How should I handle that? I noticed a code 700 on my service form.

Speak to the service manager and explain the issue and your concerns inform him about the tow bill and if indeed their at fault then they cover the tow bill and any related repairs from the damage

If you only paid $540 at a Honda shop my guess would be that they did not put on a new flywheel... Did you ever find out if yours was resurfaced?
