Nah....
H22 Power baby
If I was going to do a K seriers swap I would do it on a newer car like the newer civic coupe.
H22s are way too good of a engine to just give up like that, and I'll know mine will be around for more then 2 years.

Senate1123 a.k.a. George & i are from the same shop. as far as i know there was alot of hours put into this swap, all mounts are custom made, battery needs to be relocated, change shift linkage, using Rsx wirehardness w/some custom wiring to K pro...

bashing bout how K20 got no tque. why u need tq when george can just blow this motor n see it's peak power & with all the room there is on the engine bay he can do turbo or even twin turbo...

Save yourself the trouble and just put in another H22

If anything just put in a K24..

^^^ k24 might need more work to make it clear the hood line..n lower the motor by another 2 inch or so... by then the oil pan might be low... so k24 might not be the better idea...

a pic of hoodline clearance...

y put in another h22? i have 2 full motors already...one of which is built for turbo. how does the industry progress if we all think like that? how will the end-users (you people) get better k-motor performance if no one is willing to develop off of it? im putting in a prelude because honestly its cheaper that way. no need to purchase another car to do the swap and its def cheaper than buying an rsx. i dont see y so many of u r so judgmental about the swap. u can think its pointless but u know what...i know for a fact that the k-motors r built much better. the h22 r an old design. theres not much left to develop on it. i know how to make 500+whp on that motor. the more experiments we (shops) conduct on the newer motors the more power you (customers) will benefit. i dont think u realize that i am doing this as part of a SHOP PROJECT. this is not entirely a personal project. everyone is entitled to their own opinions but really common sense would be just be appreciative of the development that goes into new technology. will u knock greddy for making a k20 turbo kit? or hks? or toda for their engines? i dont plan on doing this swap ever again. its not worth the time/money for me to sell it to any of u. i need a k-motor to test on is what it comes down to. thanks for the compliments, thanks for the criticism. i just hope my post explains y everything im doing is not quite so "pointless".

Common Sense says to put in another H22A.

Or maybe import an H23A VTEC and boost it a little.

Too much time and money for this, but props for doing it.

H22 heads flow about the same as K series, the H series block is a lot less prone to failure...

The difference is attention and support, the H got bypassed... Everyone went from B to K...

Bottom line, K motors havent made any more power than H motors in full race scenarios NA or FI

If you know what your doing with the H... The potential is there

i'd swap a K24 in in a second, if i had the time and money. then enjoy the huge benefits that hondata has to offer for k-series engines.

keep in mind that there aren't many guys with NA h22's over 220 whp. how many k-guys are already at 220 and beyond with a lighter engine, a better tranny, and more reliability?

think about it, modern honda engine + older generation double wishbone suspension in a car that will weigh 400 lbs less than a TSX...</TD></TR></TABLE>

I couldnt agree with you more. The H is a great motor, but no one can deny the fact that everyone side-stepped it. The fact that it only came in a 25-27k sports coupe didnt really make it a winner in the eyes of tuners either, seeing how most prelude owners were more in their late 20's/30's. Simple facts, the K-series reaches a larger base than the H's ever could have, therefore there's more porfit to be had for all these modifications that have been/being developed for the K. And not to mention, the Prelude line has been defunct for almost 3 years. As for senate, all he is doing is following the "modification train" so to speak. Although the swap itself for the average luder will be a little too expensive, these guys are at least getting the ball rolling for something that could definately breath new life into our ludes within the next 5 years.

Good luck and keep us posted.

.... All I can say is why? sure it's cool to see a different motor in it but for some reason I hate it. It just seems so pointless to me, the main goal all of us car enthusiasts is to improve its drivability at the lowest cost, no? I just don't see what K motor's have over the h. You could make 500whp on pump gas and that would be plenty on fwd car.

If you where rwd and you where experimenting with different rwd motors in a 510 or something I think I would have a lil more respect. Personaly I just don't like it but pretty cool to see someone actualy attempt it so we can shut all these people up that keep asking about k motors in a prelude

A shop doing it is one thing, where an individual doing it is another. Shops will do more expensive and more involved projects than any individual person would find worthwhile. IMO, a lot of money to spend for little improvement, but on the other hand a 6 speed lude would be pretty cool too.

i think u all fail to see the reason as to y im doing this. maybe u just dont want to read my post but i did explain it there. none of u have to like it...i never posted the pics of my car on this forum. the point of this swap is not to "get the ball rolling" or to "provide an alternative motor for the preludes" nor to "be different". the main reason for my swap is to WORK WITH THE K20A2. this particular motor u see in these pics WILL be used for TESTING. it was CHEAPER to SWAP rather than to buy an rsx. how can any of u tell me that it is a waste of money? how much can u people BUY a built 500whp capable h22? can u get the entire setup for under $4k? not very likely for u "enthusiasts". and the point to being a car enthusiast is to enjoy ur car, regardless or mods, hp, etc. i dont need people to respect me or my car. im looking only to have a k20a2 to experiment with. i NEED to start testing parts, rebuilds, setups on the k20a2. i NEED to test reliability, limits, durability, driveability, etc on the motor. im beginning to see that some of u dont appreciate r&d time. u talk about how if u know what ur doing the h22 is very capable and that 500whp on an h22 is way more than enough. just stop and ask urself how u got to the point where u know the h22 has potential, and how u know that a 500whp h22 is enough. someone must have tested the limits of the motor, right? all u see is the end result that there is a possibility to own a 500whp h22a, not how it became possible. i can build myself a 600whp h22a right now with the parts i still have but im not making any progress with the future motors by doing that. try to understand that one little concept and u will understand y there is an actual point to the swap. this swap is not for sale. for the time that went into it, im fairly certain none of u would consider paying for. this swap is an R&D PROJECT. if any of u ever plan to purchase an RSX/TSX or swap the K-motor into anything, our testing/experimenting/designing CAN prove to be a benefit for ur current/future project.

props to you guys, I think you got the right idea.

Same reason some people say WHY?? make an integra mid engine, RWD h22, or just a RWD integra. but one its good news for the shop, when the shop has this done they got something to show for that not every other shop can do. Like he said its a R&D project. He is going to net more gains down the road with the K series too, so in the long run it may not be that bad. Or even if its just for the bling factor, either way its good there at least being original.

im kind of beat from the long day and maybe didnt explain it to good, but keep the ball rolling

i love the H series, but the K series got SO much MORE potential then the H series.

Right now theres a K series running 9 secs ALL MOTOR in a insight.

if you got the money go for it. I got 2 H motors, so i might be selling my H in my EG to get a K series and go all motor.

EDIT - Go for the K24 more torque
if your serious about this swap then theres way more info on http://www.k20a.org

and i think theres a way to convert the K20A3 trannys to the 6 speed K20A2 trannys. that way it would save you a little more money.

i havnt seen no H22 hitting 9 secs all motor. and just adding an intake to a K gives you way more HP then on a H series. and the other thing is that the K series barly came out and theres more after market parts for the K then there is for the H series.

well thats just what i think. im not saying the H is worthless, i love my H in my prelude, but if i had the money i would put a K series in my EG.
