i'm thinking about buying a set of webcams from a fellow h-t member and i have a few questions. first off i'll post the specs that he gave me.

Engine: Honda Prelude VTEC (big lobe only)
Grind # 498-15-89a/498 2.5 degrees-265-267
Valve lash intake/exhaust: stock

Valve lift IN: 465
Valve lift EX: 426 (edit: may have been a typo, awaiting sellers response)

Duration IN: 280 degrees
Duration EX: 282 degrees

Duration @.050
IN: 255 degrees
EX: 250 degrees

Lobe center: 110 degrees IN/EX

Intake opens 17.5 degrees BTDC
Intake closes 57.5 ABDC

Exhaust opens 55 degrees BBDC
Exhaust closes 15 degrees ATDC

also this is the setup they were designed for, which is almost exactly what i plan on doing (but not right away).

"All out, all motor. When filling out the engine profile, we specified the following:11:1 Type S pistons, ported/polished cylinder head,
intake/exhaust/cold-air intake."

this is my current setup, I/H/E, dinan chipped ecu and a tuned vafc.
i'll also be getting the springs, ti retainers and cam gears.

Now for my questions, will running these cams on my nearly stock engine be a bad idea for the time being? i'm definetly interested in the power gains (from the cams). So will these specs leave me disapointed as i'm not yet running the type s pistons and the p& p. Also can anyone tell me the stock points at which the intake and exhaust valves close (i.e. 17. deg. BTDC, etc.). also can anyone give me a link to skunk2 stage2 cam specs, they're site won't work for me (flash). I plan on calling webcams tomorrow to get they're opinions but i'd like to hear from H-T as well. Thanks in advance.

ttt

edit: one more question. i'm considering these cams or crowers, i can get the crower cams, valvesprings, ti retainers all brand new for $60 bucks more(groupbuy center). Or buy these webcams brand new with used valve springs, ti retainers (1000 miles on them). what do you think and which cams will give me the best gains?

crower specs (crower stage2 stock idle lobe)
Int-.466 mid Exh-.465 mid (lift)
Int-297 mid Exh-287 mid (duration)
Int-248 mid Exh-240 mid (duration at .50)

My personal opinion is those are way too radical for your setup.

You need a setup with a little more compression and that will flow a little more air.

Crower sounds like a good bet.

update: after talking with a few people through im and webcams i've decided to wait. I'll be waiting to save a little more money and get the head p&p'ed at the same time. thanks for the help.

Also for the seller, i'll give you a little free advertisement.

He is selling the cams, used (1000 miles) springs and retainers. He quoted me at 795.00 shipped to my door. so shipping may affect the final cost. Brand new they would cost $1080 before shipping.

heres a link to his H-T profile
