Which is better? 4th gen or 5th?
hey everyone, I'm on the road to buying my first used car and I', proud to say that I am considering a prelude. The only problem? Which to get? I like the 4th gen for it's great performance, but on the other hand, the 5th gen has a sexy body style, but I'm having a REALLY hard time finding a manual one. What do you suggest? I'm into it's performance and style. Hoping to get some feedback! Much love from cali

It's a matter of preference. I personally love the 4th generation and like the 5th generation. They are very comparable with performance. Aftermarket is slightly better for the 5th generation in certain aspects. Ultimately, you have to decide what you like.
It would be like you asking someone to decide which is your favorite cereal...it's fruity pebbles btw. Ha

Yeah, performance is almost identical, as they are almost the same car mechanically (except for the 5G SH). I would base your choice of off which one you like the looks and interior best.
I personally think the 4th gen looks a lot better

Choose based on looks. They're basically the same car.
If you can't find one in Cali, look online and take a road trip, it'll be worth it, as long as you take your time finding the right one, with a current owner that cares for their car.

the 4th gen is lighter and ahead of its time, but i love the looks of the 5th gen. its all up to you my friend. personal preference is the key. good luck!

I've owned both. My first car was a 93 si and I loved it. These days I drive a 99 SH. Both are pretty much identical. The digital dash on the 4th gen looks cool, but the taillights on the 5th gen look better (in my opinion). Its like comparing apples and oranges. You can't lose with either one!

5th gen is a lil heavier... I like the nose of the 4th gen better but the *** end of the 5th gen better. I'd take either.. they're both sexy and have H-deucedeuce's!! Some of the 5th gen tranny's suck *****. You could get a 4th gen for cheaper perhaps and put more $$$ into it to make it rad.

the 4th gen... way beter looking and its quick. i get mine up to 140

LOL thanks for the advice, I think I'm gonna go with the 5th gen, assuming I can find one with a manual transmission here in Cali. Thanks again.

Both nice cars, really similar performance same motors different body style. Its personal preferance. 4th gens are more of a widebody and are ahead of there time and weight less then 5th gen.

5th gen all day! I always see owners of the 4th gen staring at mine, wishing they wouldve gone 5th or hoping to afford it. 5th gen has a sexier body line. Get the SH, better handling, smack a suspension and you'll be set. Living in Cali you shouldnt have a problem! I live in Miami,FL and I drove to North Carolina to buy my right one! Good luck!

Yeah, theres many people out there that when they buy their first and only car they just strongly feel invincible. lol My father owned a 4th gen but I never saw it as my style. 5th gen was the way to go. I love my S2K aswell but Prelude is just something special

Love the 4th gen cuz its dif., the car stands out and its got an ageless design. Hate its butt though... the interior and nose gets everyones attention and its cheaper for the same technology and performance as the 5th. Id just buy a gsr but i already own a 4th gen and just cant let go
