Bent rim?
How would you be able to tell if you have a bent rim. I recently replaced my rear tires and Im having a problem with my right rear again, I think i might have a bent rim, and the dealership thinks so as well.
Also... anyone have a spare type SH rim laying around :D ?

Im going to ask the mechanic of the dealership why he thinks its bent. If he answers with "well thats just what I think," I'll take it to someone else.
The fact of the matter is that I think Im going to have an *** hard time of finding an SH rim that isn't priced over 150.

OHHHH hohohohho... now they say that I also have a broken motor mount! YAY!
Is it ok to leave this broken? And... is it something that I could replace myself?

Re: Bent rim? (ConanDan)
Which motor mount are they saying is broken? You have 4; front, back, left and right side. Most like they just said you have a bad front mount becuase the rubber inside is broken. It's not a big deal really, and you can get polyurethane inserts for about $20-30 and that will fix it (though it will be stiffer and cause a bit more vibration). Otherwise a new mount is probably $40-50.
If your engine doesn't make a knocking noise when you start moving from a stop then the mount is not that bad.

Re: Bent rim? (ConanDan)
Its the front mount. They want like 200 to do it. How easy would it be to replace this? Anyone have any online instructionals?
The guy said the rim is slightly bent, and that he did what he could to balance it out, but that if I want to get a more smooth ride, that I should replace the rim. I imagine that it will also affect tire wear, but wtf ever. If I can find a rim for cheap, Ill do it otherwise, expletive it.

if it is just slightly bent dont worry about it. i would say that like half of the people that come in my shop have at least 1 bent rim. its not gonna affect tire wear too bad, it'll make a vibration though.

Screw that noise...if you don't mind vibration get some inserts, otherwise just get a new mount from eBay or a local parts store and put it in yourself. Not too hard...

If your really that concerned about it, the cheapest way to check is to get a big container, plastic kiddy pool would be nice if you have one sitting around but if not, try to find a plastic drum and cut it in half. Just fill it with water and set the rim in it and look for bubbles. Just slowly rotate it.

Re: Bent rim? (ConanDan)
If the rim is only slightly bent, dont worry about a replacement till you have the time and money. Just put in on the rear. I have been driving with a slightly bent rim for about 6 months no problem. And dont pay 200 for a engine mount. DIY when you have time. Good luck with it all, but dont stress a bent rim is no biggy,

Re: Bent rim? (Pilky)
Well its only useful for somewhat fast leaks, basically your, just looking for air bubbles. Tire shops do it all the time to find nail and screw punctures.

Thats what i thought you meant, but the OP is trying to find out if he has a bent rim or not, not a leak.

thats the only solution for right now. i replaced one rim that had a slight bend in the center of the rim. never got around to taking it to a rim shop, so i bought one a at junkyard for 100 bills plus tax. the easist way to tell if its bend at all is to throw it on a wheel balancer.
