bb4 prelude sunroof **question**
i have a 94 prelude si and when i got my car (around a year ago) the sunroof was fine but as time went on rust started to come through. It start to bubble up around the corners, i have my car redone (body work and paint job) and it was fine for a few months then the rust started to come back, but worse.
so i figure that its just going to come back again if i fix it...so instead of getting a new sunroof and having it repainted, i was wondering if they made the glass sunroof/moon roof for the bb4's or are they all solid?
thanks.

i dont think they ever made a glass one for bb4's. However i have seen some people retrofit a glass sunroof/moonroof from a 5th gen into a 4th gen and i think it looks really good.

i did the glass sunroof conversion a couple of months ago and i got to say that i would never go back to the stock metal panel sunroof. The conversion isn't too difficult, plus it looks alot cleaner and you won't have to worry about it rusting later on.

Yeah my rust is getting out of control on my sunroof too so I am planning on swapping in a glass roof. I know the 5th gen roof fits, but does anyone know if any Integra roofs are the same size and will fit?

I followed most of the directions from the forum syntax posted but i also shimmed the sunroof assembly as well.
If you have already taken the 4G metal panel out, you will know that the sunroof/panel/rail assembly is bolted to the interior of the roof from the inside. When you open the sunroof, the metal panel protrudes up and outward (out of the hole) and back.
When you replace the metal panel with the glass one, you will notice that the glass is thicker than the metal. Therefore, when the sunroof is in the closed position, it will protrude up out of the sunroof hole.
Because of the thicker plug, you will need to make it so that the whole sunroof assembly sits in effect lower than normal. To do this, you will need to use washers, etc, BETWEEN the inner roof and the assembly itself.
Here is a picture to show what i'm talking about.

Re: bb4 prelude sunroof **question** (i_heart_EG)
i'm not sure what size washers i used but i know i put about 4 washers in each location. I first started with 2 and then checked how much the sunroof still petruded and then i estimated about 2 more washers to make the sunroof flush with the roof. the amount of washers needed may very for everyone but just add more or less to your liking.

This website has a carbon fiber sunroof plug for the 97-01 Prelude, which is the same size as the 92-96 sunroof I believe. I have seen a similar kit for the 4th gen on ebay, but that was a while back.

no, as the earlier posts say its a perfect fit...you just have to do a little adjusting: grinding, sanding, washers, etc...

Re: bb4 prelude sunroof **question** (Jos3ph)
couldnt you put the washers on the bolts to shim the assembly instead of just putting them in between the assembly and the roof? I would think over time they would work themselves loose and rattle around. If you put them on the bolts you may have to get longer ones but I was under the impression that you did that to shim it down.

Re: bb4 prelude sunroof **question** (Sabbotage)
Of course the washers are going to be on the bolts; the washers have to be installed between the assembly and the roof (and the bolts are going to go through the washers, if that's what you're talking about). That is why "mounting bolts" is highlighted in the picture; to show that the washers still go around the mounting bolts, but just in between the assembly and the roof.

Re: bb4 prelude sunroof **question** (Jos3ph)
Hey Jos3ph, thanks a lot for that shim idea. I was resigned to having my moonroof sticking up and causing wind noise permanently.
FYI, the Integra roof won't fit. It's too small.

I can see what you're saying, but if it works and doesn't leak in the stock configuration, I don't think shimming it down 1/4" would make it slosh over the sides. The drain tubes will still work.
