I would have a shop do it for you, the painless route.

It's a good bit of work. Make sure you have all of the necessary tools as well as a uni-bit in order to drill the firewall for the master cylinder. If you aren't very mechanically inclined you are better off paying to have it done.

My 93 auto had a black plug in the firewall with an aftermarket alarm wire running through it. Snipped the alarm, pulled the plug, and the master cylinder bolted right up

Working down in the pedal box is a bitch though. good luck

The 5th gens aren't as fortunate as the 4th gens when it comes to that plug.

We did a manual swap in an 01. Charged right around $700 labor. No way would I do it that cheap again... Then again, I'm a LOT more **** than most. I made sure all the electrical worked like stock (except the clutch starter switch), cleaned everything before installing it, etc. I certainly didn't just toss the stuff in the car.

The hardest part, IMO, is drilling the holes for the master cylinder and running the hardline along the firewall with the IM in place.

Our local shop jst quoted a member $1,000 in labor if he supplied the parts.....
The number $2500 installed sticks in my head including parts.
Just don't go the cheap route on the trans.......like buying a used 150k mile H23 trans is a nono.

If I were to do another swap, around $1k labor sounds about right.

They knew what it would take. One of the mechanics there did a 5th gen auto to manual swap on his car. They said the 1st is always the hardest and now know what it involves.

Of course the first time you do something it's the hardest. No surprise there... I knew, I just misjudged the time needed!

Costed me about a 1K$, including tranny and all parts needed to switch it over. Only thing i hate is the tranny was a 93 accord tranny. Gonna switch it over here shortly to a 98 prelude tranny..

I didnt have the time to do the swap myself because of my new job, i met this dude thru Ebay who was selling prelude transmission parts and lived bout an hour and 1/2 away. He basically did the swap for 500 and sold me the tranny and the parts for 500...

Sweet thing is tho, i just bought a 98 base tranny, gonna be dropping her in here shortly
