Any issues to watch out for?
I'm strongly considering picking up a Prelude. I'd like a 01, but would buy a 00 if I found one I really liked. I need another beater/daily driver while I'm trying to decide if I want to fix the 96 Accord that's been doing that duty. I really like the Preludes, but I hesitate to buy something that old, but then I've not seen any new cars I like nearly as much and I don't need a brand new car for a beater. Anyway, are there any issues or anything to watch out for on these things? I'm not super familiar with the Preludes as I've always owned Accords, but I've always been very happy with Honda products.

First, a 10-year-old Honda is not old.
Second, don't get the Sissy-Stick. You'll regret it.
Third, same **** you'd look out for with any other Honda.

Is what you are calling the "Sissy-Stick" the auto or manual? Anyway, if I get one it will be the manual, that's for sure. As for 10 years old, while I think a 10 year old Honda still has a lot of life left in it which is while I'm looking at them, it's still old. Hell, our 06 Accord is old to me. I've thought about upgrading it a few times, but just haven't seen anything new I like more. I just need a beater though as I'm putting way more miles on the 06 Accord than I want to be since the other car is broken down. I've got to get something and I'm undecided on spending 3grand on fixing the 96 Accord I have, or just putting that 3 grand and another 2-3k into it and getting a Prelude. I hate to part with the Accord as we have had it since it was new and it's got 278k miles on it now, and I still really like it, but at the same time the Preludes are looking mighty nice.

Re: Any issues to watch out for?
Have to agree with the above comments. Prelude's are not a beater car. If you buy one i think you'll end up loving it just like the rest of us. As for common problems, i know that the big one is the oil cooler gasket likes to blow on the 4th gen H22s. I don't know if that was fixed in the newer ones or not. But that's a cheap and relatively easy fix and likely will only happen once if ever. I had a '93 Prelude for a little bit and the gasket FINALLY blew on that after 197,000 miles. Everything else is just a matter of maintenance just like any other car.
