Default 98 Prelude ABS light is on and yet the codes will not show up

I have my 98 Honda prelude and my ABS light comes on from time to time. This time around it has stayed on for a week, so I decided I would jump the blue plug near the radio and center console, the only problem being, is when I jump it and turn my key all my dash lights stay illuminated, and my SRS light flashes once, not my ABS light, the ABS doesnt blink or anything it stays solid the whole time I have the key turned in the ON position . Is there something I am missing or am I not doing the ABS code puller procedure correctly? ANY help would be much appreciated guys.

Make sure you're turning the key to the ON position, not ACC. If you're sure you're doing that and it's still just a solid light...I'd say it's an intermittent problem and you're going to have a hell of a time figuring it out.

make sure you're getting good contact on the jump, hold the thing you used to jump it towards the metal side with your thumb while you turn the key

jump it and hold it, THEN turn to "on"

Okay I will try to hold the paperclip down and see if I get any good results with this test. And I do think it should be only a wheel sensor issue, I don't think the ABS cpu is bad, but we will see. Like I said before the ABS light goes away when I drive a bit but just this time around it has stayed on.

Shoot guys something isn't right when I jump the two pin blue connector, my SRS light is the one that blinks once, but my ABS light just stays illuminated. I am thinking there is something wrong with the connector or obviously with my ABS system but I cant pull the codes at all, so I have no clue how to diagnose this issue.

there is the bigger blue connector attached to the frame, then there is a smaller clip inside the bigger, you pulled the smaller blue clip out and jumped right?? not the bigger??

im sure you have it right, but it would save time if you didnt

thanks for the huge pictures, thats awesome. And yes I did pull the little blue clip and jumped it still with the same results, my SRS blinking once and my ABS does nothing just stays lite up, I am thinking about just erasing the abs codes doing the erase procedure and then re trying to jump the blue clip when the light comes back on. I just really dont wanna spend $175 on buying a CPU, and wheel sensors just to find out it was only one item I needed to begin with.

Yes getting a new CPU is only $28 for me so that's not a huge deal to me and used front sensors are only $22 for the pair, so I guess that's a start right there. Should I think about replacing my ABS pump as well?

yeah, I guess if you cant get the codes to read, buy the CPU, dont know if you saw my thread currently here, i had 6 codes come up, two of them being the RR wheel sensor and CPU, i replaced the CPU without even touching the wheel sensor and both went away along with 2 others just by replacing the CPU.

BUT, on the other hand, i dont want to sound like i know what im talking about at all, im learning about my car as i go, If it was intermittent at first like you said, not sure if the CPU would go out "intermittently" first, seems like that would just go... the motor/pump or wheel sensor would be ones that would gradually go, like you said it now is solid. but like i said, thats more of an opinion of mine about this

Thank you for helping me out fruitofthelude......I will be replacing the CPU and the front wheel sensors and I should be golden after I do so. If worse case comes up I will probably end up replacing the ABS pump as well. Hopefully I can get my ABS light to turn off and remain off for good.

Check your fuses... They will turn the light on if there are no codes. My sensors were actin up so I just pulled the fuses to bypass the system. Light was on solid, but no codes in the system.

I checked the code and it says something about the accumulator. It seem like the abs light goes on more often on hot days. Can someone help me? Thanks

So replace your pump or take it out and diagnose it like the URL that was posted in this thread to help just for that.....here it is...https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2830570

Had a similar problem in my 93, my first step was replacing the fuse in the engine fuse box, fixed the problem.

what I am thinking is if you jump it and nothing happens the pump is good to go unless someone else can confirm I am wrong about this. Please help us out if you do have any further info, and I was thinking replace the ABS fuse in the under-hood box, but why do it if the fuse isn't blown and in good condition?

Hi all! Im from Norway, so sorry in advance if my English isn't all that good.i tried this problem at the "Club Honda of Norway", but no one was able to help me on our forum.
I've got a 94 H22 4ws and had the same problem with my car when I bought it, ABS was lit up constantly. Started on my attempt on fixing it, so I pulled the codes and it threw a bunch at me. I guess it had stored all the errors from earlier. Then I pulled the fuse for ABS2(as its called on the EDM anyways..) To erase all the codes that aren't acting up in the current moment. Now I have the problem with the ABSlamp lighting up after ca 5 minutes of driving, but when I try to pull the codes after the light comes up, it won't throw me any because every time I start car the light is gone but pops up every single time after 5 minutes of driving. Any advice would be much appreciated guys!

Okay guys I just replaced my ABS cpu and front wheel sensors and yet nothing so it must be my pump or one of my rear wheel sensor...god this ABS crap is voodoo I tell you. I will attempt to do the ABS pump test that is in this thread, and or purchase another pump and go from there.
As for the PreludeNorway post, did you ever do any code look-ups before you erased all the ABs codes? Obviously your ABS system is coding for some valid reason. Just have to get to the bottom of it.

Yeah it was code:1-3 High pressure leak (possibly modulator)1-2 Hydraulic pump motor. But all those was erased after the fuse-reset. And about the high pressure leak, I can't find a leaking source or that is missing any fluid. I might try to bleed the brakes really good one more time. But the hydraulic pump motor, is it likely that is the two pins in the pump that have gotten stuck? The previous owner told me that the light was on and off for a half a year or so before it was on constantly.

Fixed my problem..it was the 7.5amp fuse in the under-dash fuse box labeled ABS replaced it and now my abs light is off and my heater and AC now blow again and everything on my climate control works as it use to. Just an easy awesome quick fix. So never underestimate your fuses being bad.
