89 prelude 4WS replacing water pump...
ok, im helping my friend replace the waterpump on his 89 prelude. i am used to working on crx's and integra's and all i have to say is..why in the hell did honda stuff every possible thing it could under that engine bay?? i have never seen an engine bay so stuffed. *venting* you pretty much have to remove the cruise control accuator, power steering mc, ac stuff, alternator, etc just to even make room. bah.
seriously does anyone work on these things anymore? it has the black sheep b20a1 that gets its displacement from its larger stroke..im tryin to convince the kid to part it out. would anyone have interest in anything off it? honestly does anyone work on these things anymore??

how much does he want to sell the car for as is? i may be interested if it is really cheap.
as to your problem with the water pump, expect a couple of hours to get at it. you will need to move the cruise control actuator, take off all the drive belts, remove the engine mount, take off the valve cover, disconnect the plug wires, unplug the alternator and move the wires, take off the crank pulley, take the plastic guards off, take the tire off for better access to everything, take the timing belt off, then you can pretty much get at the water pump. after you replace that, you have to put everything back together again. it took me about three hours to do my water pump. it sucked. well, have fun.

Re: 89 prelude 4WS replacing water pump... (crxplus)
you know what..we got at the water pump..and i was amazed at how easy all those bolts broke. it was actually kind of cool..but there is still way too much stuff in that engine bay! hehe. the water pump actually is totally fine..but the headgasket looks kind of nasty..sludge build up etc. im hoping that is why it was overheating. everythin else has been replaced..radiator, coolant switch, thermostat. he might be willing to sell it..he's cyrk007 on here.
