5th gen Prelude automatic transmission reliability
hows the auto trans reliability on the 5th gen prelude? Ive searched for threads but all the answers are useless saying "just get a 5spd".
Its a 2000 prelude im looking to buy at a good price.

someone is going to ask soo, I only want an auto cuz i already have two 5spds and one 6spd cars. I want it for those days where i dont feel like shifting

If your not trying to beat on them daily they should be just fine. Ive heard of people running mild boost set ups on them. Its just most people look at auto's with a taboo. You can do DIY shift kits for them and can be decent even if you wanted to smash around.
They are just prone to failure sooner then the 5spd. But seeing how you just want a lazy day driver car its perfect for you.

but for the record, I at one point built a custom engine setup with JRSC, tuned with emanage ultimate, 99 prelude, auto tranny with traction control. made 250whp on a 90 degree day, and 265 on a colder day. that thing ripped. full throttle in lower gears on colder days was too much power and the traction control would actually disable itself cuz it couldn't control it. but last I knew, the owner who abuses the car daily but is a stickler for frequent maintainance, had over 80k on that setup (155k total on the car and tranny) and was still completely issue free, including with the tranny.
