Just discovered an oil leak from the oil filter housing at base to engine is this just a gasket ? and how hard to fix ? non mechanic but can follow directions really well.

Need to go to the dealer and buy an oil cooler housing o-ring, like $3 or something. With the filter off you take a deep 23mm to undo the bolt that the filter screws onto that goes through the center of the oil cooler, pull it away from the block and replace the rubber o-ring. No need to disconnect the coolant lines going to it, just do this next time you change the oil.

I'm thinking you're talking about the oil cooler. There is an o-ring for it (Part # 91316-PE7-730).

You pull off the oil filter, use a 30mm socket to take off the oil cooler, replace o-ring, and reinstall everything the opposite way.

Ninja edit: Posted at the same time, I have an H22A and had a 30mm (Not 23) bolt holding it on.. just did this last week.

Just did this a few days ago. O ring was around $4 from the dealer. Just had to buy a 30mm socket from autozone. Easy fix and no more leak. =D

Couldn't quite remember the socket size, been a while since I did mine, I think I got confused with size needed for the knock sensor.

I have a 92 SI, 2.3, same thing. Same problem do you think??? O-ring??? I swapped out the oil pressure switch and now it appears as though this wasn't my problem. It looks like it is coming from the housing that the filter screws into. Is the O-ring right against the block?

Tune

Yes, its most likely the oil cooler o-ring thats causing the leak, just
buy some new seals and fit them and your oil leak will be gone.
