1997 Prelude Reliability
Hello all.
I'm looking to buy a 97 Prelude thats going to be used as a reliable commuter. Im familiar with Honda's general reliability as i did own a 98 GSR but i have read some issues with manual transmissions and the engine in the first year prelude. Anybody experience these? are they recalls? Should i worry? heres a link:

Just to let you all know i have a 03 Honda CBR 954RR for sale in the motorcycle forum if any of you are interested, its pristine.
Thanks for the help guys

Re: 1997 Prelude Reliability (noood)
As long as the car is maintained properly, the car should be fine. Preludes are pretty reliable.
I don;t know much about the manual tranny problem, though. I know the automatics really do suck in terms of reliability, but I've never heard much about the manuals.

What I think you are referring to transmission wise would be auto transmissions. They they are known to have issues. Manuals on the other hand don't have such reliability issues. As for the engine, I think you are referring to the auto tensioner. Yes, also a common problem, but a h23 manual auto tensioner swap will remedy that problem. Unfortunately, both are not recalls.
