When selling a bike....?
when you have someone interested in buying ur bike and he asked to test ride it...what do you guys do?
do you let him/her?
or do you say its to much of a risk "what if you drop it'?
i personaly think i wouldnt. just because its a risk what if the guys accidently drops it and then doesnt want ur bike cuz its dropped..and now ur stuck with it.

Same rule here...
...but you'll find that most everyone that stops at your door doesnt bother to bring more than 5 bucks with them.

tell them that they can ride it after they buy it. If they want to know how it rides, tell them to read reviews. You are not a dealership and likely cannot afford to eat the price of a motorcycle if some tool drops it while test riding it.

I'll be looking for my first bike soon and I wouldn;t want to ride it anyways for fear of messing someone's thing up.
I let a kid drive my car a while back and he totalled it so now I never let people touch my stuff.
but I do want to see how the bike runs so I would tell the owner to ride it in front of me up and down the street and I'll observe if it's making a wierd noise or something.

Every situation is different, but like the other people stated cash in hand and M1 before test ride. BTW I have never sold anything over 1G.
Usually you can weed out the flakers when you have a conversation with them (about the price, specs, condition, arrangements, and bringing cash). If they come and check it out, don't immediately hand them the keys, again talk with them. If they are serious or still interested in the bike they will bring cash. After the test ride if they don't want to buy it they'll hand you the keys and you hand back the cash. No harm no foul... or something like that.
- You can ask them that you hold their DL/M1
- After the test ride they might haggle with you
- Know your bike's value (selling price is ultimately up to you)
- Again make sure they agree to your proposal terms before hand (if they drop/crash it, they buy it or whatever you have set up)
- Always nice to have someone you know (family, friend, etc...) to be present just in case something happens

i usually let people test ride if they have cash in hand, or if i know them personally or through a friend. I don't really sell "cherry late model bikes" so i'm not totally concerned. more than anything i determine whether the guy's gonna get a test ride based on what kind of guy he is. if he looks like a trustworthy guy, then sure. have him sign something, photocopy his license, and let him test ride.
people generally let me test ride...i've never NOT test ridden a bike that i've bought used.

she's cheating on you
Re: (bad-monkey)
I have only had bad experiences with letting people drive my ****. I let an aquaintence drive my Si when it was making 400 to the wheels and he destroyed my tranny in 20 min. In order for me to let someone test ride my bike I would have to see all the money or it wouldn't happen.
