hmm, maybe i will just wait a year then instead of going through all the trouble it has currently been.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by marmaladeboy &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Otherwise, the chances of getting a CA-plated, converted motard is practically nil. A friend of mine did that with his SXV4.5.</TD></TR></TABLE><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by EKhatch &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I thought I had read on SMJ or Thumpertalk of people getting them plated in California some weird way. i have been thoroughly researching this for a year. i have a rmz450 sitting in illinois waiting to be shipped as soon as i can get her plated. the only ways to get this done in Ca, is to get it registered somewhere else and then brought here or transfer the title out of state and get the type changed from MX to DS, then get the title back here and register it. although, with this, you still could run into the problem of having an experienced DMV lady or updated files in the computer systems. but i have heard about people getting past this by taking their motard to triple A, where they are far more leniant with how things are registered and they will usually just put the paperwork through. so i thought i was all ready to go, right? wrong!!!!!

now i have heard from some people with plated tards that recently the DMV has been pulling peoples registration on bikes who's VIN doesnt match with CA street legal versions. and people who werent sent a letter were denied the opportunity to renew their registration when the time was up. so this who subject has me pretty steaming. this doesnt even include the green sticker/red sticker subject which i still dont fully understand, but if i am interpreting them correctly, you would have to get a new bike or new green sticker every few years. so to say the least i am burned out. *tears* i just want my damn supermoto*tears*

so i guess if i had to ask for something for christmas, i would ask for plates and registration. or an RC51 i guess, but i can have one of those if i really want it.

With the CA-DMV, I think it's just an eventuality where they will catch up to your use of any loopholes.

yea thats kinda where i am at right now. i wish i could make the phone call and tell them to crate her up, but there is no guarantee i can get it registered and even if i do get a plate there is no telling how long before i cant register it again.

but your news about the SXV possibly being street legal next year, is some of the better news i have heard all day. thanks for that. although buying one of them is going to cost me a significant amount more then if i could plate the RM. ohh well.

Well, with the SV the list is long, but i can narrow it down to one thing (generally).
I want an 04 or newer GSXR front end conversion for the SV.

Some of us already have 'tards, and some MXers were previously converted to street-duty. It was possible to register them legally before, but CA-DMV, in their infinite financial wisdom, decided to pursue a small section of motorists and revoke their bike-registration.

i dont know much about the husky, but the DRZ is way too tame for me. to me there is a distinct difference in dual sport and motard or supermotard.

ohh well, that is neither her nor there. i think my best bet to date is waiting to see if they make the SXV street legal.

Husqy's add some weight with their lights, e-start, and battery. And with the Husqy, you will need to buy the kickstart (unless it's included with the new bikes) if the battery completely drains. Bumpstartin' is not gonna happen.
