I would buy a new r6 if I could get it in an r1 chassis/body.

Seriously.. no matter how much I want that bike, when I look at the price tag, it just doesn't do it for me. But I don't agree with your 1000 analogy. Because I don't think you can compare 600's and 1000's. Therefore their price can be the same for all I care. I still wouldn't pick up a 1000 for several reasons. But there's reasons to pick a 1000 over a 600 as well.

For example, they could produce a totally homologous, limited edition, street version of a 600 and sell it for $17K and I'm sure there'll be eager buyers.

well I guess I can see your point, I just like 1000's better because they have low and midrange power. A 600 is like having a B16A IMO..

lol, I love when people try to say that 600 SS bikes are just torqueless wonders. Sure, maybe you can't clutch wheelie them in 6th gear...but they do just fine at lower revs. Except maybe the new R6.

I used to have a 600, so it's not like I'm talking out my ***. Sure they do "fine" at low revs but 1000's do better, and I like them better for the highway.

and why pay $9199 when you can have more bike for the same money? If 600's are your thing, then by all means go for it. They just aint my thing. Not criticizing the bikes, just the prices. 600's used to be affordable.

Yeah, true. CBRs are almost $9K by themselves, so the $9200 for the R6 isn't so bad...right?

R6-S: The bargain of the season at around $8200.

I think it's an 04-spec R6. It's not quite the bike that the 05 R6 was...diff forks and some other stuff.

All these new exhauts look shitty to me. I can't stand the one on the Gixxer.

i like where the exhast is located at, im not really feeling the muffler design to much, but i think once you put a aftermarket exhaust on, it would look alot better

I bought a black one in feb 06 and chopped an aprilia Factory in for it. the low down power is a bit lacking but once you get it singing, it is just as fast as the aprilia. The handling is superb and the looks are drop dead gorgeous....nuf said.

I think the new r6 is a piece of **** and the fact that it seems everyone and their brother seem to jerk off to them makes me hate them more. The powerband is terrible for the street, they look like ***, and it's still a yamaha at the end of the day... I'll buy a new 600rr or triumph 675 way before I'd consider wasting money on the r6.

yeah im not much on the R6 one of my friends was all talking about how yamaha is the best and all this ****. I told him about the 17.5 redline **** and he was like well its still the fastest 600cc bike, and all this other bullshit trying to defend yahama. I think the R6 has too many body lines as well. I will stick with my k6.

motorcyclist or sport rider or something magazine (ill look for it later) did a comparison of other rev limits and revs throughout the whole rev range with other brands on a dyno and suzuki, kawasaki, and triumph were all off by about 8 percent. the new r6 is off by 15 percent. the only bike to be point on throughout the whole rev range was the CBR600RR. just thought that it was interesting that other brands are off by significant amounts also but never caught flack for it. buts thats probably because yamaha did huge advertising about the rev limit. whatev.

From what I gathered form the 600 comparos the R6 is the fastest bike, but it's the hardest to be fast on. It's an "experts" bike. I guess one has to ride one to know for sure.

i dunno what the hell he was talking about. He dosent ride, so he was kinda talking out of his ***. I just tryed to ignore what he was saying cause all he kept saying is yamaha is the best everyone knows that and all this bull **** and it started to annoy me. I mean yamaha is not bad, but in my opinion if your gonna talk about something at least know what your talking about or have some experiance with the product.

Jesus H. Christ talk about swinging the bullshit bucket around with aplomb.

The new R6 is probably the 600cc bike to have if you're actually gonna race; if you're going to street ride primarily and pose, buy a scooter. And before you Suzuki lovers come on aboard to tar and feather me, IMO, the best open-class sportbike is the GSXR-750 - hands down.

The R6 has:

Ding! Ridiculously adjustable (4 WAY Highspeed/lowspeed) forks and rear shock

Ding! Integrated lap timer

Ding! Radial brakes w/ radial master cylinder

Ding!
Slipper clutch

and on and on.

It's also got a buttery motor, small front AREA, induction, et cetera.

And any of you fan boys who got your panties in a twist about the redline, untwist your knickers - it was a 1000rpm error but who gives a ****, really? Furthermore, Yamaha offered to buy your bike back, if it just ruined your bike night supremacy.

Oh, and the **** that really counts, Yamaha offers contingency money; so if you're out there in 600 production class, getting run over by a bunch of amateurs, you can at least score some cash - though the never ending debate on what "looks tiiight, y0" means may keep you off the podium and on your BigWheel making "Vroom" sounds 'til the day after forever.

Wrong. Slipper-type back torque-limiting clutch. The key word here is "type."
