how many people listen to mp3 players when riding? i would think this is unsafe. i mean, shouldn't you be able to hear your surroundings? is it even legal? i know some of the music i listen to could make me ride a little more aggressive, so i just hum to myself...

It's not any more unsafe than a radio in the car I wouldn't think but it is illegal to use headphones while operating any vehicle in Virginia.

Hmm, i was under the impression that the stoplight triggers were pressure opperated. In any case. when riding at night i usually give them a red light cycle before i run it. I dont want to break the law, but..... oh who am i kidding
The old hitting the killswitch prank is classic Works better just as the light turns green

Re: (XxDJCyberLoverxX)
rest my head on the gas tank, kick stand down, and take a nice nap
i need to get my hands on an mp3 player or just get one of those green light triggers since it seems to work well for others.

I listen to my mp3 player when i'm heading out to a friends house. traffic aint that bad at this time so i really dont rely on my ears. just my eyes to check my surroundings. At a stop light when i dont have any music, it does get boring. i check my mirrors, play with gas tank (sometimes it feels like i'm molesting it, mmm the curves....) or i just start beat boxing inside my helmet. make up some beats till the light turns green.

i waited and waited at a light, finally ran it, and got popped. Some states have laws where you can run a red light if it skips you so many cycles, but not here. That law was in congress, as well as being able to ride in between stopped or slow moving traffic, but they died in session

B4 I got my MP3, I used to sing to myself and one time, a couple of kids in a lowered car next to me started pointing and laughing so I wheelied off the light and gave a middle finger. I guess until I fix my MP3 player, I'll be singing to myself again.

Re: What do you do at stoplights? (OCStarz)
I like to take my helmet off for a nice SMOKE break.
No really.. I've smoked while riding.. it's not the easiest.
Also.. I take the time to jiggle the ***** into take off position again.
If I'm really bored.. hell, take out the cell phone and call a homie.
Or or or! I put the kickstand down, walk over to the coffee stand, flirt with the girl and drink a mocha.
One more! Sometimes if there's a car next to me I'll pick my nose through my helmet. You should see the reactions!!
Good thread.

And do those "Green Light" switchers things work? Someone told me that if you flash your highbeams the light will turn green, and they have it for cops who need to get somewhere fast or somethng like that. any truth to that or urban legend?

Re: (usdm420)
Incorrect. You may have not had luck with such actions, because they require a certain frequency. They don't use a little magic "device", they use strobelights, there used to be kits where you could buy em online. Look at ANY ambulance, fire truck, crown vic, they'll all have a strobe light right in the middle of their lightbar.
THen look at a light, there'll be a little cylindrical lookin thing with a tube stickin outta it facing oncoming traffic, thats the sensor. That way, any route an emergency vehicle takes, its ish'll work just the same

hmmmmmm, how do you explain the lights down in the street racing district down here in so. cali? ALL of the surrounding lights at intersections would flash green.....and i mean ALL..even miles down the road
the cops would chase us out and all the intersections as far as the eye could see would start flashing green

Re: (usdm420)
Some lights have IR activated "priority control" systems where as others have radio or audio activated systems. I know here in CA most of the IR systems have been replaced. So high beaming the lights won't work. Just look for a little square box at the top of the signal.
http://products3.3m.com/catalo..._html
According to this, flashing high beams won't work for newer systems because the duration and interval of the strobe must be within a specific threshold.
