Haha. As for the r6, I've ridden the newer version ('06) and have not really found myself comfortable on it. The seat is really high, the bars are low and angled down, and it just feels very compact. I'm sure great for the track, but i'm too tall for that as a daily. a gsrx750 will probably have a similar seating position, but I have yet to even sit on one. Still considering an '04-'05 750.
But i'm leaning pretty heavily on either a sv1k or an RC. I just think a twin is best for me... plus I had an awesome dream last night I bought an RC and man it sounded sweet

I was going to ask the exact same thing. Congrats on selling the bike!
My vote would be SV1000 or a 929. I have always like the SV's and while I have never riden one, they look like they would be a good all around comfortable, and powerful choice. I worked with a guy who rode an SV650S to work often and had a fairly long commute. He loved it, I really liked his bike. Good luck with the next choice.
*edit* twins sound soooo sweet....

i really like the sv1k w/ gsxr front end for a street bike. the RC guys seem to hate "around town" riding--it's hot, it's cramped, and it's heavy. the sv1k is hooligan enough to have zee street cred, but comfy enough to do a 600 mile ride (i did a LA-SFO ride on a naked sv650 and it sucked, but sucked less than it would on 675 or 600rr.)
my only preference would be a naked sv1000, cuz i hate half faired bikes. yes windscreens are nice, but i'm a ***** for show before go!
the k4/5 gsxr 750 is probably just like the 600 in terms of seating position. I think the k6+ is a little more friendly to daily riding as it's slightly more upright. the k5 felt like it spreads you across the tank (though there's not as much rake as there is with other bikes like the r6), and has that characteristic gixxer wideness to it. the k6 felt slimmer and the pegs weren't as far back. that being said, the k5 is probably fairly comfortable (at least for me) relative to the other supersports.

After talkin with a buddy who had an RC... I'm thinking sv1k is my #1 choice, he said the RC was really uncomfortable as a daily commuter. Unless I find a wrecked RC and bastardize it with some pro taper bars and streetfighter it haha.
What makes you say the 636 is the way to go? I looked at a few, but i didn't much care for the looks. Perhaps with my price range, I may be forced to find a wrecked/damaged bike and ride it around w/o fairings and such.

Re: (fatboy01)
I would get insurance estimates at all the bikes you are considering to help you narrow down the selection. I was looking into getting a GSXR 750 until i realized it would be twice as expensive to insure as a 600. I didnt even get an estimate on a 1k since i knew it would be just retarded.

Have you ridden one? I sat on a new SV1k at the dealer and really didnt like it all. Big *** fuel tank and long reach to the bars (at least, for me).

no i haven't. i just assumed it was like a 2nd gen sv650 w/ moar mot0r!
also, there are no z1000's on your list? that's another bike that's undervalued and cheap, but apparently a blast to ride.

my 636 was a fun bike... plenty of power, handled well, wheelied extremely well, very well balanced, i sprocketed mine -1 and it was always a pleasure to ride, not to mention was comfy, never let me down, overall is a very strong bike that can take a beating (hence such a strong stunt platform)
I ran a couple trackdays on it, i recomend you buy a damper for it, other than that it is such a smooth confidence inspiring bike.. (05-06)
but the 03-04 were fun too.. i've ridden them often also

Re: (Willybeen)
Cool, i just found an '03 636 on locally for $1700, although it's been wrecked and im sure needs a lot of work. I emailed the guy asking for some pics and more info...
As for the z1000, I saw an orange one over the summer, and I was interested. I checked a few out, but I can't stand the stock exhaust and the upper fairing. But if i find one for the right price, I'd consider it.
If you can;t tell, I don't have my heart set on any bike in particular, i just want something reliable and fun to ride, for a decent price.

i just picked up an sv650
really useable low end and midrange power, and very nimble and maneuverable.
once the gsxr front is on, im in love
id say look up the reviews, decide what you want, and go for it
v-twin ftw though

i like SV's but i just can't get over the way the fall on their face at 7000 rpm.
i had fun beating the crap out of one at pahrump, and i could see how it's fun and stuff, but no matter how much exit speed i carried through turn 8, i felt like i was on a moped on the back straight. anyway, i felt bad giving the guy his bike back w/ no feelers left...which reminds me: the sv badly needs rearsets. the nekkid one does, at least.

I think I found my new stunna:

If that bitch runs I might just pick it up and run it into the ground and make many bad decisions on two wheels...

Seriously though, good fighter project here:
http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=159370
I'm unfamiliar with Virginia registration for salvage titled bikes, anyone have some facts? All I've been told is that most wrecked bikes in Va. are given a COD title, so I imagine it would be difficult to get a reconstructed title in this state.
