Which turbo for bike?
hi all,
I have a VFR 800 vtec engine and am thinking of turbocharging it in the future (possibly supercharger). What I wanted to know is where do people get turbos for lower CC engines? Will a small diesel turbo work ok? Or do I have to pick one from a small cc petrol car? Im sure garrett or someone do a turbo aimed specifically at bikes or engines around that CC but I wanted to piece together a homemadeturbo kit. If anyone can give me any examples that would be great.
By the way the engine is going into a buggy not a bike.
Thanks

There is a full topic on the big VFR discussion site. As a new guy I wont post a link to it but if you PM me I will give you one. There is a bolt on kit being made for the Vtech as we speak. He has only made the 5th gen VFR kits so far but will be finishing the Vtech mod soon. George

Re: Which turbo for bike?
I did some of the calc on the VFR engine and found that there really isn't a turbo that matches it at 140hp. If your willing to go up to 150hp, you can try a GT1548 that will require around 7.5psi, i think that's your best bet. You should hit peak boost by about 5K rpms.
Boost shouldn't be enough to require an intercooler but if you chose to use one and assuming you have enough fuel, you should be good all the way to 160-170hp on the 1548. this is of course, assuming your engine can handle it and your tuning is good
