you will need a new VSS. Its the vehical speed sensor. Remember to change it asap to get accurate mileage because technically its not recording the revolutions your engine is making.

looks like the bike was repainted. There was a red with black wings f4i in 01, but not a black with red wings, ever.

or it could be the gas tank from an 04 f4i with that color scheme. Sounds like you got a "hell of a deal" hope you didn't pay too much for that lemon.

Check a plug under/near the underside of the tank. It seems that some F4i's seem to rattle this plug loose. If you have small hands, great, cuz it's a bitch to squeeze in there to plug it back in....

no negativity.... but what would you do if you bought a bike and on the way home the speedo stopped working.... one can only imagine what other things may pop up with something like that... it was obviosly repaired with different fairings so chances are it went down....

yah im pretty sure the bike went down. its definately been repainted. but its still a pretty bike and its my first bike so i wanted to buy something used. but i love the color scheme on it, especially with the gold wheels. so back to the topic... the speedometer works everyonce and a while, so it seems like it has to be one of the connections, i just got the honda book for it so im checkin all the connections. shouldnt be too hard to fix. im thinkin someone put an alarm or somethin on it befor then took it off? think this could be the problem? cuz the wiring looks SH***Y

Anytime wiring is tampered with by someone who "knows what they are doing" other problems will surface. Just by lookin at the bike, I can tell you the bike was dropped/wrecked, or the person you bought it from is a tard! The wheels look good but most of you wings are m.i.a. You have two on the tank and none on the lower cowl. Be careful with this one. You just don't know what else might be wrong.
