Wtf is up with that? I had a speeding ticket and I hit someone.. By the law, it was my fault. There was some dumb bitch PARKED in the carpool lane on the freeway, guy infront of me didnt see in time, which means I didnt see in time and I hit him.
Does that mean I'm SOL when looking for cycle insurance?

I think you can get coverage with Progressive even with a ticket and an accident on your record. I have Geico because they gave me the best rate. BTW how old are you and what kind of bike?

look elsewhere. The same thing happened to me a very long time ago, and I had less on my record then that. I found insurance through somebody else.

there is no law requiring an insurance company to provide coverage for you. its actually good business to limit your exposure to highest-risk individuals...i probably wouldnt insure you either, or i would charge a very high rate - especially on a bike. i doubt you want to hear any of this, but some insurance companies dropped the entire state of florida after they decided they didnt wany to pay out homeowner claims due to hurricanes. so yeah....

I never reallly had a problem with online quotes.
I'm covered with Progressive and never had to talk to a single person to set up my policy. I hate talking to people, they always try and sell you ****. My car is covered by USAA, though, and I might move my bike over in the future because their rates are invariably better.

For awhile, Geico would insure ANYone who wanted insurance. They went through a period where they stopped issuing new motorcycle insurance policies, and now they're picky about who they offer coverage.
Like other people have said, shop around.

you wouldnt cover him becasue of one speeding ticket/ accident? hahahaha.. wow... must be nice to be perfect. i understand what your saying about "them being smart not to" because he is a little higher of a risk.. but come on.. **** happens.. his record is mint compared to mine! his age might have something to do with him being refused too.. but i would shop around.. those online quotes are garbage in my opinion.. give them a call directly and speak to someone and explain out your situations...

Progressive is motorcycle friendly. I got the cheapest quote from them and was referred from my auto insurance company (USAA - who does not cover motorcycles).
Geico was VERY Expensive according to many of my friends that went insurance shopping.
My record when i applied:
2 speeding tickets in the past year
1 reckless in the past 3 years
1 small accident (fender bender) my fault
Coverage for a GS500e in Northern VA - $336/year for liability only
You shouldn't get denied coverage at all unless there is something you're not telling us for one reason or another.

Everyone's insurance-shopping is different. I, for one, got the cheapest rates from Geico after shopping around. They also have great customer service (from my personal experience). I had two tickets on my record at the time.

Statistical analysis shows that "**** happens" to some people more than others. My sister has been in 4 car accidents, twice totalling her car. NONE of the accidents were her fault. Still, she's more likely to drive into situations where she is prone to have an accident. Her insurance is higher. Shouldn't it be? Would I sell her insurance? Hell no, I've ridden in a car with her before!
I'm far from perfect. Didn't imply I was. I've paid some outrageous car and bike insurance. Still pay a lot for bike insurance, for 2 more months anyway.
I guess my point is that yes insurance sucks, but its a bit of a racket and there isn't much getting around it other than shopping your *** off. I was bait and switched by Safeco. They doubled my insurance after lowballing me. *******.

don't sweat it. Geico sucks! My auto quote from them was twice what I was paying with my current insurer and that's before they reduced my rate about 30%.
Seems like now a days, you have to be part of some privileged group to get decent insurance rates unless you have a spotless record or you older ie. usaa or new jersey manufactures for people in Jersey.
Luckily, my parents are in the armed forces and I'm covered with usaa which is definitely the best all-around company to deal with from banking to insurance

I would think Progressive should insure you for something like a CBR600 even with your driving record. Like Sijray21 said, they are motocyle friendly.
