Riding is bad for my cell phone(s).
Had a family share plan with my (now former) girlfriend. In March, broke up with her, shortly afterwards, I got caught in the rain and the water went in my jacket and ruined my phone. So I bought a crap phone on ebay for 50 bucks. She sent me her phone, and got her own service, but by then I had activated the crap LG phone. So today, 3 months later, I go to activate the new phone, and put the LG on the shelf in case I need a backup, and I put the nice verizon phone in my pocket tonight and forget to zip it up. Goin 80+ on I-5 to get home...and arrived without my nice cell phone.
Back to the crap LG.
Learn from my mistake...zip your pockets!

if its water damage and the little dot on the inside is changed colors they will not replace under warranty or insurance.

lol, reminds me of the time I took a trip and secured my cell phone to the tail section with my bungee net. It wasn't there when I arrived at my destination

i put my phone in my pants pocket with a holster.. and its pretty tight, but i still get so paranoid and feel up my pocket at every light.
insurance is a must, though, if you get it wet and have insurance, just toss it and say it was stolen.

I rode in the DUMPING rain for 4 hours with my phone in my jean pocket. My jeans looked like i jumped in a pool, and my phone still worked, and it's a crappy kyocera

left pocket for keys & chapstick, right pocket for fone, left *** (i'm a lefty) for wallet
..it makes me feel like i have OCD when people always ask me "did you lose something?" while i'm patting myself down. "no.. i have this uh..system"

one of my friends washed his and he had his dad take it to work with him and use a vacumn or something to remove all the moisture before he turned it on. his dad has all the hookups

I dropped my cheap cell phone in a toilet.. and it worked
Another time, i put my phone in a pocket i never usually did. A jacket pocket with no zipper. Yep, i lost it. Then i kept calling it .. and calling it, and finally, someone had turned it off.
So i left a message, saying if they returned it, they would get a reward. Then all the sudden they answered He said he turned it off cause he "was trying to study". So i get it back, hand the guy $10 .. and all my settings are changed. Background, ringers, etc etc.

says the guy that's never returned a water damaged self phone. plus insurance does cover it. btw most water damaged phones can be dried out no problem

yeah the key is not to take the phone into the store and let them look at it.
if you really wanna try and save a water damaged fone submerge it in rubbing alcohol (off, no battery) and let it dry completely
i'd say 7/10 times (speaking from experience saving friends' phones) it works in restoring your phone 100%
--#9, you're right though, the factory warranty covers dead phone replacement but not repairs. and insurance replaces no questions asked + deductible.
