Icon5 Question about tires...

So right now I'm overseas, but looking to get some tires for when I get back, or order them now so they are there when I get back.

I had a question though hat are some good tires to get that will double as good for canyons and highway, but still be pretty good for the track. I want to hit the track once I get back from here, and don't know what to get. Anything is better than stock. I heave heard good things of Pilot Powers, but really don't know too much about other brands. Figured I would ask here.

Any good deals, or sites that already have good deals always, just let me know, thanks.

i have dunlop qualifiers on my gsxr and love them. a friend has bridgestone bt-016's and loves those. i've also heard good things about the pilot power 2ct... so i'd just buy whichever one you can get a good deal on.

Yeah, I found some good deals on the Ct's. Got a specific website I can look at? The internet here is terribly slow, lol.

im looking for tires right now, not sure which direction i want to go.

my last sets ive used were

conti road attacks
dunlop qualifiers
bstone bt002rs
bstone bt016s

i was leaning towards trying pilot road 2cts, avons, or metzelers

I would either get the Pilot Power 2CT or the BT-016 if you're planning on hitting the track. If you just want a tire that grips good and gets good life on the street I would go for the Pilot Road 2CT but I would not run that tire on the track.

i know i do tons of straight miles and commuting but my damn bt016s squared off pretty fast. and i always keep up with my air pressure.

Currently I'm in Afghanistan. I'm in the Reserves. So I stay at home, but if these will serve me well in a canyon, on the road, and the occasional track, I will definitely pick these up. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am on the bt002, but I don't think they make them anymore. I like this tire a little more than the pilot powers I have had multiple times before. I haven't run the 2CTs but I would say to pick up the pilot powers as they are going to be a bit cheaper and you can find plenty of corner grip in them. I think that anything more agressive will be overkill for what you're looking for. If you get more serious about the track and start seeing the limits of the pilot powers, that is when I would make a switch to a more agressive tire.

^^I might have to pick up another set from that website then as well haha. Make a thread or something about those shinkos if you decide to try them out, I'd be curious to see how they do.

all ive heard is positive things from shinkos but they get a bad rap cause there korean made.

the shinko 005 advances are supposed to be basically a copy of regular pilot powers.

ill probally be ordering tires this week, either

bt002rs
bt016s
shinko 005

im looking for tire deals but not finding any...

I have personally heard conflicting shinko stories, but none of the people I ride with have ever run them. A guy has told me that on the 005s the front end consistently washed out on him after 2800 miles and he had to switch to another tire before he even had time to finish wearing his first rear out. He is kind of a limit-pusher if you will though, and so it's hard to gauge how these tires will suit my riding style, so I have been looking for another hands on experience review from someone who knows what they're talking about, which is always hard to find haha.

well ive had no complaints with my bstones, so i may just go that route again.

ill prob. just end up with another set of bt016s unless some crazy tire deal pops up, not likely though, lol.

Yea, I used to like pirelli, then I was a michelin man for a while, but I got a crazy deal on some bt002rs tires that I couldn't pass up and decided to try them out and I don't think I'll be going back. I feel like they are a perfect mix of the michelin PPs and the pirelli supercorsas. I always disliked the extreme triangle shape of the michelin because I like more bar input than they allow, but the supercorsa pros felt a little slow on the turn in. The bridgestones are quick but have a more gradual profile than the michelins. I could rant about this tire all day. lol

i like the bt002s but i feel like im wasting them cause theres not alot of twisties around my way.

so if i go with the bt016s atleast i know there gonna last a lil longer. who knows, ill prob call cyclesector to see if they have 002s in stock still, lol.
