Re: (juicyfn)
Thanks guys. Ya, i noticed more and more that black looks pretty sick on it. I have some custom stickers for it, but they are chrome. Dont know how im going to like that... Might have to go wiiht some black stickers... But for the front of the bike and the side fairing, i want to do something custom.. I was going to do some kind of flames, but im not a big fan of flames. ANy ideas???

maybe some kanji characters...that fairing is pretty huge. or maybe a big icon of your choice..
if you have good tint shop around by you, you could probably give them a design and they could make some vinyl stickers up for you.
more pics!

Re: (CBRF4i)
Did you scuff the original paint with like 600 grit paper? Also, how the hell do you spray metallics and clears and not let it run? Sorry, never took autobody & paint

There is no green flake. Its stock silver like the rear of the bike. Yes i painted it myself. The second vehicle i have painted.. My first was the 1992 civic i had an h22 in and sold.

well, its alot more involved in that.. the two color differences in teh stock paint have to be smoothed out, primered, smoothed again... Plus the whole thing needs to be hit with 800 grit before painting.... Its a fun process...
It looks LIKE stock even before i have wet sanded it.. It will look even better when its done.. you will see.

Can you explain wet sanding?
So you paint and have a nice finsh then you wet sand and it becomes all scuffed up and then clear coat?
Doesn't the clear still show the scuff underneath?
Is wetsanding with 600 or 800

Re: (essex)
Yep, i can explain it for you. You can wet sand in a bunch of different situations. What im talking about right now is the bike is painted and clear coated. NOw what i have to do is take 2000 grit sand paper and what you do is sand everything smooth.. Basically you are getting rid of alll the orange peal and making the clear coat look like glass when your done... SO, after sanding it all smooth with 2000 grit, you have to do a two stage or 3 stage buff and polish to get it all back to super mirror shiny... SOme parts on the bike are shiny and smooth already so they dont need the wet sand. But other parts arent as smooth and have some orange peel.
You can also wet sand in between your basecoat and clear coat.. Basically you are done putting the color down, you sand with 1500 or 2000 and clear coat it.... Its not really necessary if you put the basecoat down correctly...
