That crash was wierd too, you could really get a sense of the speed when he hit the dirt, he was FLYING.

BTW, I agree the commentating sucked. "Whats soft compound mean Kevin?" "We'll, there are 3 compunds soft, medium, and hard." Wow thanks, that was so informative. He could of explained why riders choose certain compounds for certain situations but no, just gave a lame explanation of the three different types of compounds. And how many times did he say that a certain rider loved the wet?

I knew it was a bad hit when I saw Arai helmet parts start flying off. The replay showed him sliding right over the berm which can be very dangerous.

Is that what happened? I couldn't really tell from the replays.

Not sure, his front end simply washed out. Maybe he got too much on the brakes and the front locked up, but it seemed to me that it happened just so suddendly, that seems like a tipical case of aquaplanning.

It was really sudden, not even sure if he applied the brakes or not, wasn't he coming up to a straight?

He was coming on the braking zone for the 1st turn. He loses his front end, which may tell us that he simply got overzealous with the brakes and locked up the front, but also, the way it happens, so violent and sudden makes me think that he may have suffered a case of aquaplanning (and being on the brakes didn't helped).

damn watching it during race day was pretty bad...But seeing it on the pictures is even worse. This should make out an interesting race during Laguna this weekend.

if Pedrosa is out (someone clarify the info)...that means its a shootout between Rossi and Stoner for the championship. 20 pt difference between the two.

Laguna Seca here we come. We will be at camping out around Turn 5 along with Paddock Passes!!

Are the satellite Honda teams running the 2007 RCV-212 chassis? If so, Andrea Dovizioso's doing a great job. I'd like to see him on Nicky's bike.

They're using the bike that the repsol team finished with at the end of the year, with a few small updates.

Dovi is running well, but Deangelis is coming on pretty strong - he'd be right up there in the points without 3 crashes in a row.

I think the only surprise about Melandri's split from Ducati is that he's going to finish the season! I wonder if he's even less motivated to do well now or if he's going to try and impress for some potential '09 rides.

Hayden to Ducati for sure. Sink or swim...

It would be in his best interest to try and impress, but I'm sure that's what he has been trying to do all season. Gotta be rough to finish in 5th for the 2007 season and then be riding at the back of the pack for the 2008 year

I wouldn't be surprised that since Melandri has "no pressure" for the rest of the season, he might do pretty well. I feel for that guy, he's been so brilliant in the past. I surely thought he'd be fighting for the podium when he got the Duc.

"Nicky was second quickest today, which isn't bad but we still need to improve so we will have a meeting and discuss what we can do to improve his set-up and choose the best tyres for this track."

wow, honda loves Nicky.
