new toy, 01 CBR 600 f4i
just traded one of my atv's for a cbr that needs a little work, i only had $500 in the atv so i think it should be a good deal. the front needs the fearings repaired and a new winshield, the tank has a dent but i think it can be pulled good enough to make me happy and probably the front forks inspected but they feel pretty good.
i have a few questions, how much oil does the motor hold, whats the usual running temp for this bike, and where is a good place to get accessories or find out the specs.
Ive been around the atv world for years but not the street bike side. for a little more info since most of you will post it , i have had my motorcycle endorcement since i was 14, im 29 now, ive been racing nationally and locally on atv's since i was 12 and riding motorcycles as long as i can remember, i understand the proper use of gear and the importance of it, i also have the control to know my personal limits.
anyway heres a couple of pics that i was able to get to load. ill try to keep an update as the rebuild goes.

Sounds like you got a pretty nice deal on the trade. That F4i doesn't look bad, but I'd want to check out the vitals before doing too much riding. Change the oil...depending on the color and condition of the oil, you'll have an idea of how the rest of the bike was treated.
I'm pretty sure the F4i holds 3.5qts of oil, but research it and make sure. My old F4i used to take a little over 3qts when I changed to oil, but you usually don't get all of it out when you change the oil. Good luck

Re: (youradhere)
I always get a Clymer manual every time i buy a bike. Its a great investment. All the specs are listed, and has general maintainance schedules and so forth.

Yep, in alabama when your 14 you can take a test and get your motorcycle endorcement, at 15 your learners permit 15, or thats the way you could do it.

that is the same way it was in SC when I was younger. I have had my motorcycle license longer than I have been able to drive a car solo. I love southern states with the lack of population

Re: new toy, 01 CBR 600 f4i (Russ713)
Thanks Russ, Rodney, yes it is slammed, which caused a few problems, but is nice for my short self. The rear tire rubbed through the inner fender well and into the wiring harness of the ecu, which might be the reason my fuel gauge dosent work. I dropped the gas tank off at the body shop today, and this weekend im going to fix the wiring and extened the ecu to a safer and better place. im going to build my own tub for the rear to allow it more travel and turn up the preload on the rear shock some.
It has a k&n filter but it wasnt oiled, just like the chain, gotta love the maintance people do to these things. Ive got the oil drained and a new gasket for one of the side covers. might do the valves and all while i have it down this far. SHould get started on the plastic this weekend i hope, the rattle can thread had pretty much what i was wanting to do so i might try that.
Ill try to update it with a few pics this weekend.

wow thats a really low cbr! How tall are you? You might be better off by raising that up some and wearing some tall boots.
