must go faster
Hey guys, I just bought an 05' 600rr and I love it! I plan on doing full exhaust and a k+n air filter, and more suggestions on what to buy to get more power?

Re: must go faster (My Gsx-R 750)
if you do those mods, you need to get a power commander and have it tuned. That will significantly change the feel of the bike. If you want to sacrifice a few MPHs on your top speed for acceleration you could go up a couple teeth on the rear sprocket. Other than that, you should tell us why you need to go faster. What you intend to do with the bike. If this is simply for the street, why do you need to go faster?

Yea seriously, how much of that power are you actually using? Because from the sounds of it, it's brand spanking new and you've got less than 1000 miles on it. You shouldn't even be exploring the 1st half of your rev range. If that's so, kiss your resale value goodbye on this forum.
BTW, unless your drag racing or racing competitively, you're not gonna need more power. I'm sure some girls on a 250 would own you at the canyons.

I raced against some 125's last time out, got a beating from a few of them. A good 250 puts out 80HP and weighs 220bs, a good 125 puts out 48HP and weighs 140lbs. The corner speed has to be seen to be beleived.

those sound good, then invest in some track/class time. that might actually make you go faster without the mods.

Re: must go faster (Etylorcen)
Just make sure you're prepared to handle the sudden deceleration...
170 isn't fast enough?? Jesus, I get edgy at 80.....and I've been riding for ~13 years. Like these guys have been saying, you're plenty fast enough already - agility > speed.

If its a brand new 600cc supersport, and hes asking an online forum how to get more power out of it, do you really think he needs that much power? If he actually had an idea of what he was doing, he wouldnt be here asking how to do it.
Oh well, Darwin wins more often than not.

sheesh, the OP is a bit exuberant in his post and he is fair game to criticism but this comment is way out of line.
you should get off your high horse before you fall off.

Re: must go faster (jlacoy82)
seriously, why not just try to boost up the acceleration, even though tahts fast enough. I own a 750 and i think this thing has to much power. I dont know how ppl handle 1000. Props to all riders

Re: (Apocalypse)
I was at Silverstone tonight in the BSB paddock. The kit there was amazing. The Petronas team from WSB was there, Airwaves Ducati, Factory Honda, Rutter was on his paddock bike.
Anyway, it was cool. Has no relevance to this thread but I am done talking about drag queens so thought this was better - er.
You should have seen the Crescent Suzuki truck, 8 sets of WSB Ohlins in a rack like pool cues, unreal.

was it on a pink and black Honda RS125? If it was, shes only 12 Her dad runs the SMRRC (ysr/ttr125 race series in Stockton)
from bayarearidersforum.com
For Press Release:
12 year old Arclight Racing/UmbrellaGirlsUSA sponsored rider, Elena Myers, won her very first 125GP race this past weekend at Portland International Raceway in Oregon.
After her 4th place finish at the Streets of Willow track in Southern California this past June, this northern California phenom was invited up by OMMRA to take their new riders novice school and get her official "Big Track" license. Very excited about this opportunity, Elena didn't take long to impress the powers that be when it came time to hit the track. Immediately she was comfortable with the very fast and very flat circuit by lapping in the 1:17 range on her very first day, times that are considered very competetive. However, her best time of the weekend came on Saturday's practice with a 1:15.8...a time that would have easily put her on pole for last months USGPRU national!
By race day, Elena was very comfortable and wasted no time in winning the first 125GP 4 lap qualifing race by over 10 seconds to secure pole position for the 10 lap main. Main event time. When the green flag dropped, Myers got a bad start and was in third by turn one behind fast locals Rob Tatom and Mike McDonough. It didn't take long however, as Elena made her move on lap one around the outside of Portland's back straight to grab the top spot, a spot that she would not relinquish. By the white flag, Myers had built up a lead of over 20 seconds and cruised home to take her first GP win! At the awards ceremony after the race, and as a big bonus, the President of OMMRA granted her Expert status!
Elena has now officially become the youngest rider in OMMRA's 49 year history to be granted "Expert" status. Elena thanked all her great sponsors and was quoted at the ceremony saying "I want to thank OMMRA for giving me this great opportunity and for believing in me, it was an awesone experience."
