Default Mr. Nguyen's CBR build

Figured I would share my bike as I have been a member for some time now. Most of this will be copied and paste from the 600rr.net forums.

Welcome to my build thread. I figured, since I took pictures of every update, I might as well do a build thread. This will be a mixture of both a daily rider's bike, and an occasion track bike.

This build thread will start off easily, but once it's starts getting complex I will organize all updates and get an index going. Right now I am n the process of looking to move out because of not having enough storage place. Once I have my own garage the "fun" stuff shall begin. In the mean time, please enjoy the DIY and easy mods.

Mod list:
TST's IT, flush mounts & license plate
Hotbodies windscreen
Sportmax Q2
D3 grips
Wrapped Satin black mid fairings
K&N ait filter
DDM HID kit

On 05/15/13, I picked her up at the bank. She came with TST's IT, TST's flush mount, TST's license plate frame and LED light, Hotbodies windscreen and red rim tape.

At a friend's house:

I call her Ciara.

So after a few weeks, I got use to a fuel injected bike and instantly fell in love. I met a few members and got to learn my bike. Learned how to do simple maintenances, wash her and made sure I got a lot of saddle time.

Well after meeting a local member, he told me I really needed new tires. I called up Jason@STG and had him hook me up with some Q2s. And let me tell ya, these tires improved the bike's handling by 200%! Also got my self some D3 grips, bar ends and swing arm spools by Driven.

As with every car/motorcycle enthusiast, we tend to get bit by the mod bug. And my first DIY was wrapping my mid fairings. My initial plan was to wrap it matte black, but after doing some reading I heard they get oily easily and would be harder to clean. I ended up choosing a satin black, which is similar to matte black, but glossy.

So after owning it for about 2 months, I put nearly 4,500 miles on her. As you can see, I found nearly every excuse I could to ride her. And I'm not going to front, some of the excuses were absurd haha.

But all story with a climax must have a down fall at some point, and my point was this past Sunday 07/07/ 13. After getting off work, a local member asked to do a small cruise through the back roads.

I knew the route we were taking, only the problem was I was taking it backwards. I went into a corner hot, target fixation and down I went. Luckily I went down in dirt, other wise my situation would of been a lot worse. Here are some pictures of the damages and locating of the crash after going back to look for some pieces of the bike.

I ended up getting my front crowl cracked, rashed stator, tank, mid uppers, mid, lower and tail fairings. My left mirrors were rashed, small scrap on my grip/bar end and losing one of my spools and breaking a tab off my headlight. Thanks to a great member (Ldn), he sold me a pair of headlights with HIDs, replaced my mirrors and helped me get her back together.

The next day, I picked up a set of used aftermarket fairings for a great deal (thanks DeLuzRider) and started to replace some fairings. I didn't want to use aftermarket fairings, but I had to make something work for the time being. It also works out for me because I plan to track her soon, if I wreck her at least it would be with some cheap fairings.

As of right now, I replaced the front and real cowl. My gauge cluster went out today after replacing my front cowl so I'll have to go back in tomorrow and check it out. I will update with some pictures of the changed parts.

So after a few trial and error, we got my gauge cluster and running lights working again. Turned out to be the relay (oem) juicing too much power to the aftermarket LEDs. Props to my buddy for helping me out, like always.

So for the past few days, I have been recovering the bike from the low side last Sunday. I got some OEM mid and lowers to replace the rashed ones and a new stator cover. I still need to replace the upper mid because he aftermarket chinese one is sticking out in the front.

Earlier this morning I went and got my suspension tuned to my weight. The guy said the sag was perfect for me (guessing for my weight since he didn't ask for it?) and only had to adjust the rebound? (He made it stiffer for canyons) I can tell the difference, and I love how the rear compresses to the ground. However I think I am going back to make it a tad stiffer to my likings.

So I went back this morning to adjust the rebound. Let's just say it feels like a new bike. I went in and told him there was nothing wrong with how it setted it up initially, but I wanted stiffer. 5 minutes later, he told me to go ride around, if I don't like it then I can come back. He also said something about lean angles and how I can raise my forks?

Anyways, I love how the bike feels around corners now. I felt it going through the business area but I got a good feel of it on the on ramp. She just huuuuugs the turn!

Now I can't wait to see how the bike feels with new tires. (Got about 1.5k more miles on the Q2s then I will give the Q3s a try)

After about 2 weeks, the bike is back to her original condition (sort of). Besides the front and tail fairings, everything is replaced with OEM parts that I pieced together. It's amazing how much money you save when you piece things together and know how to bargain.

And here she is next to her sister:

So yesterday was a very good Saturday. Right after I get off work, I headed to a forum member's house to get some work done on the bike. Got the oil change done, installed the new K&N air filter and coolant flush.

And for ***** and giggles at the end of the night (skip to the 35 second mark):

I see your point, and it's valid. That's my basic mod list. However, after finally getting all my gear and 1 pc suit, I can finally rebuild my motor.

Why, would you need to rebuild the motor?

All that work, time, and money.

Still left the warning stickers on the swingarm.
