Well after my last wreck on it I swore off riding it on the track again and said it was time for something new. I'm a couple parts away from having it back together and as I'm looking at it I'm even wondering if I really want to ride it on the street either as it never was really good at that - it runs hot, big, uncomfortable. Only plus is the torque.

Downsides: been crashed twice and there are marks on it and some of the bits that were on it. Not sure what I could even get for the bike. Maybe $4k with street stuff on it in stock form (12k miles on it)? Selling it would mean whatever I get for the track would pull double duty, track and any street I decide to run.

Pluses: Use the money toward a new bike as I have a lot of extras and parts to sell. Wouldn't have to use any savings for a new bike.

Not really sure what I'm going to do. At the least sell some of my extras and ditch a few things that don't do it much good on the street: Extra set of wheels with cush drive, tank with fuel pump (dent in the tank), right side sato rearset and parts from the left side rearset, slipper clutch, sato gp shift adapter, maybe the DK link (never got the penske to sit on the bike as good as I hoped, it's very close to the swingarm even with my grinding it some), and I'm sure there's a few more bits I could part with and still leave the bike in streetable form.

IMO: If the bike is not good for the streets and you want a race bike... Keep the one you have, especially if you can't get much for it because it's been wrecked. Keep it, (and God forbid if you must, keep wrecking it) and save your money. Having a bike to pull double duty will never give you what you want on either front.

if i was gonna look for a bike for double duty it would be an 07-08 600rr or 05+r6.

I know I wanted the Superhawk out of my sight after I crashed. But getting it fixed (after a few weeks!) made me fall in love all over again.

If you really want something different, I'd suggest a supermoto.

I need to get it running again and then decide. It's tempting to sell to get something new but my hope was always that I'd get a 2nd track only bike instead.

As much as I love the RC51, there are quote a few other bikes that would be more fun on the street. Would you consider making the RC your track only bike and getting something else for the street?

I have little desire to ride it on the track anymore. It's 2001 era bike, is big and heavy, hard to throw around, and not the most powerful or best handling bike. It's one advantage is it is extremely stable in turns. I would want to occasionally take it out on the track but not permanent duty. Crashing it hurts too much due to its design (2 radiators - side mount, 2 exhausts, limited part availability, etc). Plus I'd be faster right off the bat on any new 600-750cc sportbike. Time for something new for the track regardless if I keep the RC or not.
