Kawasaki 250r
I might be going to look at a 2007 Kawasaki ninja 205 as my first bike this weekend, what are some of the important thing to look for?
The bike suppose to have 3k miles on it and was driven easy and no beating on it according to the owner.
Now this is my first bike and i have MINIMAL riding experience, what should i look for?

make sure it starts when it's cold.
Other then that, put gas in it, and ride. I'd change the oil every 10-20k, honestly, it doesn't make enough power to really hurt it's self, so there isn't much to worry about.
those bikes will go forever, or until you hit something with it.

check for cold starts ups like suggested 
good bikes to learn on. If you want something with a bit more pep I would look at the ninja 500 also gluck!

Because the '08 is like buying a polished turd...It's the same in every aspect as the '07, except its MUCH more expensive, and it's not any better.

You're going to drop your first bike, so why start with one that is perfect? may as well buy a beat down bike, because all you're going to do is ruin it.

I dont want to spend 4k at the moment, i want to spend around 2500 max a bike that i can learn on and not give a crap about if i dumped it.
I want to buy something bigger (600rr) but i would like to start on a easier bike first so there no point in me spending quite a bit on something im not going to have for long.

The guy said the battery is dead and the carb need cleaning.
He said that if you jump it, it would crank and try to start but wouldnt?

Got a chance to pratice/ride my buddy dad yamaha v star 250 cruiser this weekend.
It was easier to learn than i thought, was able to put about 15 miles riding on the street with it. it nothing but it a good start, i start practicing in a parking lot first of course.
Once i was able to do figure 8 without having trouble with balancing and learn to go through the gear, that;s when i decided to go onto the street. only ran into like 5 cars, so it not a busy road at all.
Im getting comfortable but still learning how the bike handle, will be going back to ride his bike again since he said he don't mind

Quick question about downshifting while slowing down, do you guy just hold in the clutch and slow down and down shift to first.
Or do you down shift gear by gear letting the clutch out?

I hold the clutch in and just go down to first. I'm a noob though what do I know.
Sidenote: you will notice with the 250r that it is a bit temperamental and it wants you to shift through the gears while the bike is rolling. Say you are in 6th gear for instance, if you come to a complete stop with the clutch pulled in and try to go down through the gears with the bike at a complete stop it won't want to cycle through the gears and can be a pain in the ***.

2. No visible leaks (check bottom fairings)
3. All lights are in working condition.
4. No excessive wear on cables, clutch and brakes.
5. No funny noises when idling or revved.
6. No hesitant when revved up.
7. Transmission should shift relatively smooth through all the gears. The 250R doesn't have a smooth transmission so don't expect too much.
8. I'd recommend changing oil between 3000-5000 miles if you're using just regular oil and not synthetic.
I recently got a 2008 250R to compliment my 600RR track bike =D Although it looks completely different, it still shares about 30% of parts with the old 250.

Take someone who has riding and bike ownership with you.
The problem with these entry level bikes is that inexperienced people buy them and perform little to no maintenance.

Why? Because it looks better? It's a starter bike. Fun though it maybe, the OP WILL move on shortly. Better to let someone else take the depreciation.
