Default Just picked up my bike

Yes .. it's not a Honda .. anyways ..

About 6 months ago, i borrowed my brother '81 Suzuki GS650 ( lol ) and learned to ride ... and lately, i've been takin my friends '90 Yamaha FZR600 for spins here and there... and ya, i picked it up from him.

Overall, it's in good condition, it has been laid down, but only a few scuffs on the fairings, and it pulls hard as hell. I can't complain, as i'm only getting it for $400!

Turn offs about the bike .... front end and rear end don't do anything for me. They look outdated compared to the rest of the bike.

Here is pretty much what it looks like ..

$750 later, it will look like this ...

So for around $1100, i will have that, and after next summer i will probably sell it for something better, and hopefully come out with more than i put into it.

What do you guys think?

we can ride together if you're down. When did you go type r with the Si? I would have sold you my R motor in trade for you Si motor plus money, so I can sell my car stock.

That is with race bodywork. It does make it look more recent though. I wish I could find one for that price around here so I can have a trackbike!

That fairing you want just dont look right. Ground clearance? I rather keep it stock.
For 400 I would take it in a heart beat.

Well now you tell me ! I just have the are block that's being built ... .5 over, 12.5:1 CR, etc.

I'd be down to ride, but right now it looks like a POS to everything out there

It's actually for the street, it has a single Hi/Lo headlight. They also have a race, but this is just the street one.

i honestly don't remember the mileage, it isn't that bad i don't think.

I will probly go black or gunmetal, or black with gunmetal decals .. i'm not exactly sure. I'm not sure how it would turn out if i did it myself, and i need to find pricing on a shop painting it. Flat blat would look tight on it tho

ya last pic looks best. But i think flat black with gunmetal YAMAHA stickers would be tight. It would be hella stealthy. I think it would look tight with the (few) gunmetal decals, against the black.

No?

Damn!! Another Fizzer?? I had one of those(95, yellow), it was my first bike!! parts are pretty cheap for those compared with R6, and u should join the fizzer board, they have really good info about these museum pieces. Oh yeah, bump for another WA rider!

does anyone know much about these? I wanna use like a YZF600 headlight and the assembly around it, i've seen it on a 94, and i know the 94 has some differences in the body, but i thought it was pretty much still the same.

If so i'd wanna use that, cause the headlights are killer on the YZF... but it looks like the kit i want is a 1 piece ... also i guess the YZF tail can go on the 94.

on ebay, i saw the front cowl (i think thats what it's called, the headlight assembly) for $80, and headlight for like $40 ... hmmmmmmmm

we'll see i guess.

Nice Fizzer, I've got a 95.

The Airtech tail swap is popular, but pricey. You can't see the back of it when you are riding it anyway and you will lose the passenger seat if that matters.

Get progressive rate springs on the front, that tightens up the front quite a bit and look into a Fox or an Ohlins rear shock. You can also put an R6 shock on their too which is much cheaper than a new aftermarket.

How many miles are on it?

Damn $400 is a great deal! I was thinking about getting a cheap *** fzr and switching to the R1 copy fairings.. havent seen any with nice looking headlights though. Could you fit the R6 or R1 headlights on those? I'd go with a YZF tank too, it's much nicer looking

Werd. I totally agree. I almost wasted the money converting to an R6 tail on my old FZR. Dude just keep it stock and ride it till you can afford something newer. You'll still be able to sell it for around $2000 no doubt.

hmm i dunno ... i'm really a "looks" kinda person, i want something to perform well and look well. This bike performs way the hell better then i need (i just learned it runs a 12.08 )

For a total of $1100, i can have that .. a bike that looks nearly new, and it will have new paint. How it sits now, there is some damage to the fairings, nothing horrible, but still damage ... and when i wanna get rid of it, i'll get even more for it. I'm just not diggin the front, mainly the headlights, and i'd like a sportier tail.

Does anyone have any info on converting to an R6 tail? Or any of the front end?

ya, learn how to rail on it and save for something newer. its a great bike for sure, but is 15 years old at this point, and no amount of bling will make it not look like a fizzer lol
