Re: Jay's Turbine powered bike (Captain Murphy)
They did a story on him and the bike a couple* months back in Motorcyclist Magazine. During the interview, he told a riding story in which a car behind him at a traffic light had gotten too close, and he looked in his mirrors, and the front bumper on the car looked a little funny, so he leaned over his shoulder to take a closer look, and the exhaust heat from his bike was actually melting the car's front bumper, he said when the light turned green, he took off. lol

Re: Jay's Turbine powered bike (Honky-Tech)
The bike really doesn't seem that impressive to me. Its powerful yes, but its also (very) long and heavy. Definately not ideal for canyon carving. Even drag racing, I'd bet a stockish late model some thing or other with a long swing arm could smoke that turbine bike. Probably the only place it would really shine is the salt flats.
I guess its a bit old now, and compared with the bikes of its time it is probably more impressive than compared to '04 open class stuff. I read through some manufacturer info, that the millitary breifly considered buying some of these turbine powered motorcycles for special missions stuff, but never did.
Jay is a really great guy in person. He'll talk to you, take photos with you, sign stuff, whatever. If you ride around the canyons on weekend mornings a lot in socal you will bump in to him eventually.

Re: Jay's Turbine powered bike (SeaQuake)
This pretty well sums up why it sucks. Even though it has 425 foot pounds of torque.
Can I get that in something other than XXL?
