Default How to securely purchase a bike from overseas

IVE DECIDED IM NOT GOING TO BUY THE BIKE, THE GUY IS OBVIOUSLY A SCAMMER
but heres what the topic was anyways...

So i found a good deal on a CBR929 in britain... but how can i make sure i dont scammed? ive discussed the bike with the seller via email, they have provided me with 15 or so detailed pictures, and i have expressed my concern for making sure we have a secure transaction. the seller proposed that they send the bike, then provide me with proof of shipping, then i send them half of the cash, then i inspect the bike when it gets here, and if its fine, i send them the other half.

is there any more secure way to make this kind of a trade? or any contract or paperwork i could use?

thanks for the help guys!

Don't do it, unless you have someone overseas verify that the bike and the seller are legit homie.

if you want a great deal on a great 929 you could buy mine. track prepped with spares- body work and wheels and tires and and and.......
not to mention there are a few people on here that can vouch for the bike.

you must have been getting a "smokin deal" if you were willing to ship over the drink!

Why would you even consider buying a normal bike from another country? Even if you like the paint scheme, you can just get he body work.this is a waste of time for all but the most rare bikes

If its your first bike, look for something smaller. I'd say tops 600cc.

Be safe, wear gear, and take MSF.

supposedly its a US bike that they brought to UK with them, then found out they couldent register it and are now selling it... but that doesnt matter cause im not buying it anyways.

Ohh, and i already took the MSF, and plan on wearing a riding jacket, gloves, helmet, jeans, and sneakers at the minimum.

and i really can only afford anything over a 600 anyways, i was just looking at this one cause it was cheap. i plan on getting a late 90's CBR600

Next time, tell them that by coincidence, you'll be flying into the UK (or wherever) and to give you their address and phone number so you could go by and take a look/pick it up yourself. You'll never from hear from them again.

This happened to me when I was looking for a bike. It was advertised in cali but when I contacted the guy he said he had just moved to UK for business. I thought it was a little strange so i started asking more about the bike. He then told me that he would cover the shipping charge. Right then i knew it was no good.

Walk away man, if I dont see the bike with my own eyes its a no go.
