Default Honda 599

Hey all...

I am in the market for a new bike and was seriously considering the Hodna 599. I was wondering what anyone who has one can tell me if it is a good buy or not. I love the "naked" look, and it fits me perfect, but still could use a little insight on it. Any help would be appreciated, thanx in advance.

It's comparable to the SV650 that every other person on this board, but me, will tell you to get. It's an inline 4 though instead of a V-Twin which I happen to like better. I like the 599 and 919's style wise also because I don't like the naked look with the upper fairing and s/s headlight. I like the single round. Follows the theme more. I don't think they made them for '05 so you may be able to find a new '04 still on the lot for cheap. Used ones are priced pretty evenly with their naked counterparts.

I say go for it. I think you'll like it a lot.

Basically it is a naked version of the f4i. I am assuming it is probably slightly detuned just like it's big brother the 919 ( a detuned 900rr motor with fuel injection).

If the question is will it be a good first bike? Maybe.... if it is dropped there arent all the expensive fairings to replace. It is also going to be slightly less powerful than most 600cc ss bikes, so ridden responsibly it could be an ok bike for an inexperienced rider.

Since you did not post your riding background, I would say if you are a beginner get a fairly inexpensive bike to learn on and spend the extra money on gear. (You won't feel as bad when you drop it) When you feel as though you have honed your riding skills and feel ready to upgrade sell your starter bike and buy a larger one. Or keep it and rock it on the track or stunt it or do whatever you wish to it....

Actually the 599 is nothing like the F4i.And the 919 is in fact, the actuall 900RR motor. That's right, the exact same engine.Carbs and all.The 599 is the old CBR 600F3 engine and is ALOT less powerful than the 600cc sportbikes, considering the 919 only has like 100hp.That's even less at the crank than my 600 puts out at the rear wheel..The 599 and 919 are both carbureted..I rode a 919 and I thought it was great, but wouldn't buy one for myself.

My apologies on the 599. I assumed they took the f4/f4i motor but it could be the f3 motor. So where I put f4i in the first post, replace it with f3, and it is not fuel injected like it's bigger brother. After looking more closely at the pictures it does look alot like my f3 motor. I looked at the specs on honda's website and it is carb'd like the f3.

I was however right about the 919 because I had read a 6 page write up about it in motor cyclist when it was released. It is as stated the 919cc (97-98 style 900rr engine with fuel injection). As stated in the magazine it is slightly detuned becuase the 900rr made a claimed 123+hp and if this thing is making ~100 well then that proves my point.

Here is some info from the motorcyclist 04 comparo. It states that it is the f3 and a retuned 900rr...

my friend actually just got an 04, and its pretty damn nice. it has the flat black tank. personally for me, i liek the full fairing look more. it is a little more of a hassle to change the oil, but i think it looks nicer. his bile has a jet kit and a two brothers exhuast that sounds SICK (you should get it if oyu get the 599) and as its not my type of bike, if your considering getting it, get it. its a nice bike

Just a heads up but I believe the 599 and F4i's last year is 2006.

No 2007 production but I heard something is brewing for 08/09.

599 look great. I was really considering one, but the only thing that stopped me was the hurrendous price.
