I am planning to get my first bike and I have seen a few of these available, I just want to get a little more info on these bike. What's the general maintenance are required on them? This is a belt-driven bike, so how often does it reqire to change the belt? How does a belt driven bike compare to a chain driven bike? More maintanence required?

How does this compare to the Ninja 250?

Any info would be apprepiated!! Thanks.

Belts normally require less maint. than chains becuase they dont need to be lubed every 500 miles. as far as the other maintenence, im not sure. with an old bike i am sure you will get plenty of chances to work on it thats for sure

the main diff between this and a ninja 250 is going to be sportbike styling vs. standard styling. the ninja is fully faired, so if you drop it the plastics will get scratched up pretty good.

i say you are on the right track with the CM250, sounds like a perfect first bike.

Sounds like a good bike to learn on.

Keep in mind that if you want to be a GOOD aggressive rider, the rebel isnt going to be a good bike to practice on those curvy roads(IMO). Dont get me wrong Im not bashing the rebel im just want you to know you shouldnt move from that to a liter bike. Some people may feel diffrent but it is your life you are trying to protect by learning.

By getting the basics down on a small liter bike, you will be wiping up alot of people on larger liter bikes on those tight turns. Anyone can go fast in a straight line, it takes skill to take the turns.

thanks for the advise, I have no plan to jump on a liter bike anytime soon, after this first bike, the next one would be something in the 600 level (600RR would still be my fist choice!) :D
