Icon2 Found a 2001 CBR600 for sale. Is it a good deal?

There's a guy selling a 2001 Honda CBR600 for $2300.
It has 15,000 miles on it and has a rebuilt transmission with 100 miles on it.
He says it has never been dropped or crashed and it has a clean title. Says he's selling it cheap because he is moving and needs it gone fast.
I've always wanted a early 2000's Yamaha R6 and I was planning to buy one for $3000 but then I saw this deal and thought it can't be beat!
The problem is that I don't know much about CBRs so I need opinions about whether it sounds like a good deal or not. I know the 1999-2002 Yamaha R6 bikes have a common problem where the dogs on the 2nd gear wear out and it slips into neutral at high rpm so I want to make sure the CBRs don't have problems like that so that way I can avoid having issues.

Any information is appreciated.

A 600 honda with ONLY 15 k miles and it needed a new trans.
That thing has been ridden hard and put away wet more than once.
I would stay away from it - how much longer will the crank or rod
bearings last? and who did the rebiulding?

I sold my 600 with over 50 k miles and it shifted ok but if I was
going to keep it I would have put new clutch plates in it.

Very reliable bikes gets up to 50mpg, only problem seems to be the cam chain tensioner will start to rattle but is cheap and easy to fix. Way more comfy then a r6.

Ditto on that! Ive owned a 93 CBR 600, 94 CBR600, 96 Cbr900RR, 2000 Suzuki Tl1000r. and currently own a 2003 R6 SE and 2004 R1. The Hondas were WAY more user friendly (i.e low maintenance, parts are cheap, and you can beat them all day long and they still roll nice!!!) The R6 vs the CBR is no contest when it comes to comfort. The Honda will be more forgiving after long hauls. This will be the only time you see me praising Honda bikes tho...cuz i kill'em all with my R1!!! LOL!!!! good luck....

I went ahead and bought it for $2000. It seems to be in decent shape except I can hear a faint knock at idle and the engine makes a loud rattling sound when it gets past 4000 rpm. I've done research and as rd91sib18c5r said, I think it is the automatic cam chain tensioner lift going out. I just bought one so when it comes it will hopefully fix the problem. Other than that I need to do a little work on it because he would park it outside. All in all I think I got a good deal.

Pics? Did you get the oem one or manual? Some people have modded the cctl on
cbrworld it's called uncle jeff mod. Did it to mine when I changed it and I haven't
had any rattling for 10k miles. Have fun be safe and wear gear.

I went with the original automatic cctl but it is the newest part number so I'm hoping the problem they have has been fixed. Do you have a link to the uncle jeff mod? Here's a pic of my bike:
