I've only sat on one and seen the dynos. But it was wildly uncomfortable and the powerband is peakier than mount Everest. I would never ride one on the street.

Very uncomfortable street bike for me. I'm a tall rider, and I felt like I was falling forward on the R6, and was very cramped. Very low clip-ons, high seat, high rear sets. The thing redlines at 17k, and you have to rev the **** out of the bike to get in the power. Not good on the streets to be riding around at 12k+ rpm.

I'd say sit on one and see how you feel on it

I own the 06 R6. On a smoooth twisty road its a bit of heaven! On anything less than perfect its complete hell. No power down low, front end loves to slap ya with even a little throttle and a small bump.

Ill sell ya mine

I rode an 07, and enjoyed it for the power, and handling.

but the position made my back hurt badly. I'm 5'9"

the sets are too high for me IMHO. im 5'10 and it just feels too compact and makes riding it a lil tricky. its got awesome top end power and would leave my 600RR in the dust but the low and midrange just doesnt do anything.

They are VERY peaky, all of their usable power is up in rpm's. The new 600rr is the best out yet, but they cost on average about 1k more than the rest.

I have found that the GSX-R600 is the best between the two. I am a heavier/taller rider (225lbs/6'1") and the gixxer fits me beter and has awesome power.

I honestly think that almost all of the new '07 and up (big three) 600cc bikes can give my 748s a dang good run for its money. I am extremely impressed with all of them........

I just find the r6 to be a little on the annoying to ride for anybody over 165lbs and 5'8"

Of the few reviews I've read they've said the 2008 r6 is even peakier in its power delivery and more track bias.

Would be an awesome track machine but I'm 6'3" so I could never see one in my future.

I own a 07 cbr600rr and i rode a 07 R6 before, the ride is rougher but i wouldnt say its unbearable roughness

comfort for roughness and performance is different for everyone on each bike

so just go with which ever bike you want and feel most comfortable with, youll get use to the bike eventually

I went from an 2003 F4i to a 2006 R6. Ergonomically, the R6 has a more aggressive riding position but it's nothing that bothers me. I routinely take 1 hour trips without any problem. Actually, I find the R6 seat much more comfortable than the board of a seat on the F4i.

Sure, the R6 doesn't feel as torquey as the F4i but it's not like it's a dog on the street. It's still faster than a car by a longshot so I really don't think the lack of torque is a critical issue when riding on streets. At least for me anyway.

Agreed - I cannot stay on mine longer then about 2 - 3 hours MAX ! I do feel that it is a great bike i have the 07 model and I do have to say i love the bike, it handles great and has not let me down yet. if you want something and plan to track the bike eventually, this is the right bike to do it on.

I felt the bike when it was stock was horrible, it bogged in first gear ( you know how you can just roll off on the clutch @ stop lights not using alot of gas) mine would just bog out so i had to get used to that a little bit. power was always after 7800 rpms.

now that i have modded the bike though its great - i installed a full system / and power commander and geared the bike -1 in the front and +3 in the back & 520 conv.

Would not have bought another bike though.

Just my 2 cents

I have an 06 R6 50th Anniversary, not so comfortable on the street but on the track it's awesome. Good luck! The CBRs are pretty comfortable.
