I don't agree with that at all. Bad-monkey said it best. You learn more on a slower machine. Its a similar deal with autocrossing. You usually learn more and learn faster if you start out with a fairly slow fairly stock car. There is no way a stock civic is gonna make you look good if you suck. It wont cover up your weaknesses and it forces you to learn to address them. Similar situation with karting, etc. etc.

Apparently you have never driven a D series powered civic on the track. It will teach you to hit all your markers and lines perfectly or you are fucked for atleast a half lap. In a Z you can just gun it and set up for the next turn like nothing happened.

An extremely incorrect statement on a public discussion forum. We aren't attacking him, we are just telling him why we don't agree. They are important points, especially for new riders that might come across this thread.

Well everyone is equally entitled to their opinion, and though I agree with you for the most part, the repetitive bashing and critism gets old.

Based on this thread, we all know that anyone that doesn't start on a 250, rides a gsxr or doesn't wear full protective clothing all the time is a squid.

:rolls eyes:

I honestly don't see any "bashing" going on, except maybe to Daz because of his attitude in this discussion.

No, I have not.

I don't think anyone should take what I said seriously.

I was just being a goof and trying to settle the flames a little.

Guess I got burned a little trying to do so.

I got ya!

I was driving home and it was raining like crazy, then I got to wondering. . . .

How do you all cope with thr rain. This morning when I left for work it was nice, nice enough that if I had a bike, I would've rode to work. Only to realize that i would have to deal with the rain upon leaving.

Now, i'm sure you guys check the weather everyday you decide to ride, but what about those days where it hits you as a surprise. What do you guys do for safety and just to make sure you get to your destination safely?

I wish I would've had a camera on me, I would've snapped a picture of this poor guy on a moped. Needless to say, he was drenched. That must've sucked

You either get wet, or wear some sort of rain gear... either the plastic overpants/jacket things, or weater resistant textile gear - the later can get pretty hot in the summer time, so try to get something with vents and removeable liners if you go that route.

It does get kinda hot in the summertime up here, I may have to look into some vented jackets and/or weather resistant gear.

I'm hoping to pick up a helmet, jacket, and gloves this weekend. Then next week i'll be getting my boots and a few extra jeans. I might buy a suit if I see one I like and if it's a decent price, but i'm in no rush. I don't even have a bike yet!

Hopefully I can come across something decent to learn on for this summer and upgrade next summer. I will definately be looking around here and other websites for info on certain bikes that peak my interest. Sometimes it seems like such a tough decision on what to get. That may just be me though.
