Default Brother's buying a bike. Should I???

I'm getting bit by the bug again. My brother is getting a Harley soon and I'm so excited for him. I owned an '02 CBR 600F4i and I had to sell it due to money constraints. But I want to buy another one because I missed riding and having that freedom. Here's what I'm looking into:

Street Triple
Ducati 848.

I know they're totally opposite but I'm leaning towards the Triumph because it's seems more appropriate, Ducs are just so Sexy!

How's the power/torque of the Street compared to my old CBR? I remember the last couple of months before I sold my bike it felt slower like I was outgrowing it.

Get the street triple, that's a good looking bike, they are supposed to be pretty quick too. I still wish I had looked into it before I bought my GSXR.

Unless you could throw your bike into any turn you wanted at WOT and scraping pegs through the turn you were not outgrowing it. You were just getting habituated to the speed sensation which will happen with EVERY bike/vehicle, wanting you to have more/faster. Whether it be a ninja250, Hiayabusa, or a 800whp Corvette.

Both of the bikes are good choices however.

Twins, I3's will have quite a different powerband, IMO a better one.

Money constraints and Ducati don't mix.

OP... your bike choices are very narrow. How did you come by deciding on those models?
Try and ythink about the type riding you are going to do, then look at possible models that fit that catagory of riding.

The Street triple should be about the same peak hp as a f4i, but way more linear powerband. Save extra money for a Street Triple R to get adjustable suspension bits, or you can buy cast-offs from a 675 to put on (shock and forks, though forks are hard to find).

I love the ST and STR. i'd get one for a street bike if i were in the market. I hear conflicting reports about the 848, and personally think it's a bit over-hyped (would rather have a 09 daytona)

not interested in what the japanese bikes have out right now? the 848 is a nice bike, but that thing is expensive to maintain
