Default Anyone rocking a "Icon" jacket?

I was looking at one. After seeing jason britton rocking a hard black one. Then my cousion told me I better take a closer look at the tags. I was like wtf? So I read thru the jacket to find out It does not meet any saftey standerds or dot.

Yeah, I have one but it just sits in my closet collecting dust, because it has NO PROTECTION WHAT-SO-EVER! Worst jacket you can buy. Mine's the Ti-Max. Do not get it.

Yea, i was trying to be cool, I liked the fit plus the look. Now I wondering why all the stuntas are wearing them and they have no protection.

i tried wearing my friends Icon Skull jacket and that crap was horrible fitting. I would stick to Alpinestars or Dainese.

This is pretty much the way I think. There are definitely some other good brands too but these are pretty much the best of the main stream.

The only Icon equip I would ever consider is the jacket that has the Ti plates that you can see stitched in from the outside. It looks pretty cool but I just dont trust Icon too much. Plus the jacket I am thinking of I believe was a textile while I would only trust leather on the street.

Icon gear is pretty cheap quality. For the price there is so much better quality and looking moto-wear out there. Though my wife has their kitty jacket in black and the quality is excellent and we have no complaints there. Definetely not track suitable by any means though. We are looking into Dainese when shes ready for that next step.

My room mate had a ti-max. It was terrible. The fabric was flimsy, light, had zero armor, and the "titanium mesh" was stupid looking in function and style. It had snaps on the forearms wrists and waist, rather than velcro. So you either had to be huge, or tiny, no inbetween. The "armadillo" back padding folded up terribly when in a riding position and looked stupid. The ab armor was also dumb and bunched up a ton. Basically, totally worthless jacket. For the money he spent he could have easily gotten an A* TZ-1 or something.
We ended up selling the jacket for $100 and he did buy a TZ-1. It's worlds better.

I think people only get Icon if they like the way they look. Yikes.

Since when does DOT approve motorcycle jackets??? Thats new to me...

I have an Icon motorhead jacket, seems to be equivalent in quality to most a-stars my friends use. Same protective padding locations, CE approved. Fits me very well...

I see a lot of comments saying that Icon doesnt have all the protection, pads, etc that race oriented equip has (i.e. a-stars, dainese). The idea behind Icon is 'Street gear' not 'race gear.' You do give up some protection to have equipment that is more comfortable, stylish, and potentially appropriate to wear off the bike in public.

Just keep that in mind...

Sorry, but i consider hard armor "street gear" not just race gear. My body/well being is important to me, and i don't find jackets with armor in them uncomfortable. I also don't really see how wearing icon jackets off the bike in public is any less conspicuous than wearing my Motogp jacket. Icon jackets seem to be made to attract attention.
