Yea, the only advantage to that one is that it's already registered for road use in the U.S. If I ever move across the atlantic I'm snatching one of those up right away.

It's funny, every now and then one will pop up on Craigslist where the owner doesn't know what they have. i.e. a vfr400r that came up on San Diego craigslist a couple years back for $2k; was super bummed because I had just snagged my 748.

Wow...6500 hundred bucks for that bike is not worth it. It's an alright bike, but you can get a lot more bike for that money. I thought even 4800 Canadian was a lot for mine. But when you look at the typical NC30 in North America, I guess it was a bargain.
Too bad you have to pay a lot to register them in the States! =\

There's one for sale on ebay Canada in British Columbia right now. Looks a lot nicer than that one! ^
Repsol bodywork with original panels and tank included as well. I bet he's not looking for nearly as much $$ either.

They're a little easier to come by in Canada. In the states, they'll fench decent money and the bikes don't lose value. I sold my MC28 for $6300 and it sold in 4 days (I probably could have sold it for more). I've seen some go for $8k and still sell pretty quick.

I haven't logged on to HT in a while. I too also have a VFR400 NC30. It's collecting dust in my garage. I made a bunch of parts for it when I took it with me to college. I'll try to get a pic up soon. It's a fun little bike.

Here are some pics. I hope they are not too big. I made the cans on the exhaust. I think if I had access to better welder and took my time it might have turned out better. I made the jack-up plates and swapped the gear shift. My roommate made me some knurled pegs and some coolant plugs. I change some of the coolant routing similar to the HRC mod.ss lines, foam filter, jetted, fox shock...i think thats it. i might be forgetting some things.

I got my NC30 from Nuak JDM in Toronto. You can always try there. He's getting new stock pretty often. The bikes aren't always perfect, but once and a while he'll have some really nice stuff.

Seen this yet floppy? Carbon special NC35 built by Tyga. I'm tempted to sell organs to be able to build something like that. The bodykits are available to buy now from the looks of it.

Re: Any other VFR400 or other grey market bike owners?? (itt: pics)
did you see what it looked like before the carbon fibre surgery? quite a mess hey! That thing sure does look sweet. The price for the carbon fibre fairing aint that much...compare to a stock Honda one which will be about the same all in. There is sure alot of other bits added which does require to sell a lung or something.
How you getting on with the NC30?

Yeah it was a mess before. Looks completely amazing now though. I wonder if they're going to make carbon panels like that for the NC30. It would be pure sex to have a type 7 scheme over clearcoated carbon instead of black paint.
My NC30 is sorted for spring and ready for another season. Fixed up some cosmetic stuff over the winter. Still looking for a few pieces of bodywork. So hard to find decent type 7 panels! Can't wait for spring though so I can ride. It's slowly getting warmer here and the snow is all gone. =D

Hi.
I'm from Ireland and new to this site but have a NC30 too. Ive had it a while but have to say its a great machine for its small size. Very agile on Ireland's tight roads.
Ive only a very low res pic of it but you get the picture. Its a 1992 model (grey import), and stock.
Really clean example you have Darren

That thing is dead sexy. I've always wondered why they don't start making smaller-displacement true sport bikes like that again. Street legal ones, I mean.

Welcome to the site simon, really nice NC30 you got there.
I went the other day to see a NC30 that was for sale, but it was in rough shape. Not worth the headaches to get one in those conditions here in Venezuela
It's because they did so during the late 80's and 90's because of tiered licensing and I believe that during those times, it was hard (and costly) for japanese people to get a license for riding bikes with more than 400cc, so the big four decided to do 250's and 400's with all the tech available from their big sisters.
The thing is, those bikes were expensive, almost the same as their 600 and 750 sisters, and they were only feasible because of tiered licensing, and also because of the economical boom that occurred in Japan during that era. With the collapse of the "Asian Tigers" economy, being able to buy "toys" like those lost sense and the big 4 decided to cancel these projects.
Even still, the CB400 Super Four is the most sold bike by Honda in Japan nowadays. It would be awesome if they came out with a new CBR400.

Thanks!. Their getting rare even over here. The market was flooded with lots of Japanese grey 400's up untill recently. Now its a rare site to see one, and even more rare to see one in good condition considering their age!.

It seems like nakeds (CB, XJR) are found in much better conditions than the race replicas...most of them are beaten to hell.
The thing is, they were cheap back then, but their owners didn't had the means to properly maintain one...they were used to having a cheap 125 thumper, and not a 4cil bike.
