2000 CBR 600 F4 problems
hey guys
my friend asked me to help him with his CBR, and i am stumpped.
The bike will start and run for a few seconds then sputters and dies.
hitting the throttle does nothing.
It has good spark, and gets fuel, so what the hell lol
The bike was running fine since the begining of the season, he rode fine one day and dead the next. it does have 30,000km on it.
Could the fuel pump be half dead? Just not getting enough fuel to the carbs?
my only experice with carbs is my 50cc mini bike and my 650cc kawi ATV lol no bikes.
If it was my 50cc minibike that did this it would be the mixture screws. anyhting like that on the CBR
any ideas would be great
thanks guys

He rode it one day, it was fine, and the next day it would not idle. Put it back in the garge and hasn;t ridden since
What info do you need? he is itching to ride again

Re: (zc911)
talked to my friend, he checked out the vent hoses and fuel lines, all are good, and he changed the fuel filter before he asked me for help becuase he thought it might have collapsed

Re: (zc911)
at that milleage i would look for worn through hoses, due to vibration. check all vaccume lines i believe there were at least 5 on the carb setup. also go over the fuses, my f4 would blow fuses quite frequently when ever i rode it in the rain.
also in side the starter side grip there are four wires that tend to come loose and the solder breaks off, they must be re-soldered
on my 99 f4 i lost my front brake line b/c it rubbed all the way through on a metal bracket.

Just my 2 cents. I also own a CBR 600 F4 2000. I washed the bike one day and immediately after it was idling rough and died at low rpm's. took the carbs apart and cleaned them and that fixed it.

Ditto on the carb clean, take them out and apart and scrub every part with gas after a good long soak. Also, check the coil packs, when those bad boys go out they are heat sencative....if they work at all, ben there... check for a spark after working the bike till it wont do anything. If thats not it pull the CDI.
